how waterproof are these bags?

They're not a waterproof bag specifically - they may be okay on the roof racks in a light shower, but if you're expecting anything more than that we'd recommend wrapping them up in a tarp or finding a fully waterproof alternative.

We think both bags are pretty similar, to be honest. The canvas is fairly similar, but the zipper is slightly less easy to glide on the 23zero bag.
