Hi, Can you undo the connection where the hose meets the pump?
G'day Amy,
Yep! We've got one of these - the hose just pushes over a flange and is held into place by a twisty hose clamp.
Will the companion rover lithium 40 amphr run this shower efficiently?
G'day Franck,
Yep, absolutely! The Rover 40 has the ability to power this shower for 12-13 hours straight before requiring a recharge - that equals roughly 150 x 5 minute showers.
Could I remove shower head or hose to use pump to fill van?
G'day Trish,
I'm going to say no, as there are alot of variables to this.
The pump itself gives pressure no greater than a standard tap, so if you've got a tap and hose I'd just be using that.
If you are pumping from a body of water, you'd need to make sure it was clean without any particulates, and also that your hose length doesnt exceed that of the original shower hose. The pump isn't really powerful enough to move water over any reasonable distance or incline, and it would probably be slow going.
I'd probably be looking at the Smarttek Pumps as an alternative, as they are designed to move water.
Lots of these drop in pumps seem to work for a little while. Travellers tell of them dying after eg, 10 times, then have no shower as pump has rusted. Anybody used for say 6months no problems?
G'day Trish,
I got mine second hand about 4 years ago before I started working here, we've had absolutely no issues.
We're a family of 6 so it gets a good workout!
The key is to make sure you're using clean water, free of particulates, and packing it away completely dry.
Does the pump screw onto a Jerry can or water tank? I have seen some photos of the same model with one.
G'day Steve,
Previous models of the 12V Showers had a thread on the end that could connect to some lightweight collapsible jerry cans, however, they are now supplied as pictured with no thread, so they need to be submerged in a bucket or tub.
Would these be compatible with the joolca double shower tent?
G'day Tom,
They should suit, however as we no longer sell Joolca I'm not able to double-check the height of the showerhead hook. There is 2m of hose between the water pump and the shower head, so as long as you've got enough length to drawer the water up from a bucket on the floor it should be fine.
Hi, Would it work with the Outdoor Connection Power Strip 36W Transformer? Kind regards, Alex
G'day Alexander,
Yes this combination should be fine, the transformer can handle up to 3A, and the shower draws 2.5A, so this should be fine if you're wanting to run the shower from 240V.
I need to fit the pump into a jerry can thanks
G'day Steve,
The widest part of the pump is 6cm wide, unfortunately, they won't fit into the opening on any of the jerry cans we currently sell.
Do you have a 22lt container that fits the 58mm opening needed for this shower
G'day Julie,
Unfortunately not, all of the jerry cans we sell have a slightly smaller opening. Best bet might be to stick with a bucket or a tub.
Can I adjust the flow from 6l/m to 4 or 2 ect or only they type of flow through shower head
G'day Sean,
You can adjust flow settings using the adjustable shower head, unfortunately, there isn't a way to reduce the flow rate though.
If the water flow is shut off at the shower head, can the motor be left running for a while, ie does it have a flow bypass on the pump ?
G'day Alan,
I've got one of these myself, and the Flow Shut-off Switch literally just blocks the water flow through the showerhead. The pump will only stop running when the actual pump power switch is turned off.
Hope that helps.
Am wondering if this will screw fit into top of collapsible type 20 litre water containers you have for sale? Would like to have it set up ready to go in the back of suv with no mess or spill or fussing about.
G'day Sabine,
There isn't a screwthread on the bottom of the pump housing so you won't be able to connect them directly to a water container. They're designed to be submerged directly into a water bucket.
Can you please advise on what the maximum supported water temperature is for this shower? Thanks in advance
G'day Romy,
The companion doesn't specify a maximum temperature for this camp shower, however, we wouldn't recommend using water hotter than around 50'C - generally the hottest shower most people can tolerate is around 45'C, so it shouldn't need to be hotter than this.
