With this having an IP65 rating, can it be mounted under a car bonnet? I want to permanently mount a solar charger near to my second vehicle battery to hook a folding solar panel when camping to run a car fridge...

I've triple-checked with Hard Korr on this one, as there's no clear answer in the product info at all, and they have advised against it. Due to possible heat exposure, it's best not to mount it within the engine bay.

As per the product image, the unit has screw terminals only. You can obtain more information on how to wire this unit through the product manual PDF listed online. Ideally, you'll be needing ring terminals/lugs from Jaycar or Bunnings to connect your wires.

Hard Korr has deigned this to suit all of their solar panels, the largest of which is 200W. The main thing to note is that they are rated for 12V solar panel (Max. 25V), with a maximum output current of 15Amp.

How does this differ to a DC-DC chager?1 answer
I currently have an aux battery in my van that is charged from the alternator. I would like to add solar so when I am pulled up I can keep the aux battery topped up without having to go for a drive. Would this regulator do the trick? Additionally, as a bonus, would this regulator also keep my start battery topped up? For reference, my van does not have a smart alternator (if this makes any difference). Thanks!

A solar controller and a DC-DC charger serve two different purposes. The Solar Controller regulates the power flowing into your battery and ensures it doesn't get over-charged or damaged by the Solar Panel Output. Essentially a DC-DC charger will pull power from your alternator via your main battery and charge up your auxiliary battery, while also isolating your main battery so you don't end in the position where you can't start your vehicle! We're not auto-electricians or portable power experts, but we do know that there are a range of DC-DC chargers on the market that have a built-in solar controller, so I think for your set up you'll be best looking at one of those.

I'm not entirely sure what you mean when you ask if the volts can be adjusted, however, there is a manual supplied with the Regulator, you can also download the manual at the bottom of our specification instructions which will give you all the info you need to set this up.
