The stove formerly known as the Primus High Output is now identified as the Companion High Output. It's the same stove, same heat output, same reliability... just a new colour.
This is one of our most popular stoves, it features two 25000 BTU burners with good simmer control and is equipped with piezo ignition. The large format burners have built-in windshields and are great for big pots, distributing heat widely and evenly across the base.
A stainless steel drip tray lines the area under the burner heads and this combined with the removable grate makes for easy cleaning. If you're looking for a hot and robust stove for all your camping and touring adventures, the Companion High Output is probably the stove you're looking for.
The supplied gas o ring from inside the burner has broken, not the hose. Do you have spares in store?
G'day Rohan,
We have a couple of Gasmate O-rings available just not sure what size you'll need, best to either try and measure the diameter or bring it in-store and we can have a look. Plenty of different-sized O-rings are available at your local hardware store if these don't fit.
Are you able to supply a hose that directly connects from the stove to one of the new LC227 bottles? Keen to avoid any adapters. I see the Companion ProHeat model does come with an LC227 connection but this model otherwise suits better.
G'day Tim,
The LCC27 hoses are usually provided with stoves that require a regulated gas supply, and all the alternatives have inline regulators built in. As this is a high output stove, it requires an unregulated gas supply.
Hope that helps.
I need an adapter for the stove end not the gas bottle end. Is this possible?
G'day Jerry,
It's not, no. I'm not sure why you would need an adapter for the stove end, but they're not generally made as the stove connections can be unique depending on the brand, as opposed to gas bottles which are universal.
Great stove, but I would like a longer hose than the 1000mm one supplied. Is there a replacement hose available about 1500mm long ?
G'day Alan,
There's not sorry. According to the operating instructions this stove can only be used with the hose provided, and cannot be used with a hose exceeding 1m in length.
is the burner stoves safe to use indoors
G'day Rodney,
No. No camping stoves or gas appliances are suitable to be used indoors, or in any enclosed space.
If you are needing a stove for inside, check out a homewares store, there are domestic benchtop cookers that you can get which are designed for indoor use.
I'm looking for a stove to use outside my camper trailer connected to a 9kg gas bottle, with good temperature adjustment (i.e. boil and simmer). What are the differences between this stove and the Companion double Wok burner?
G'day Marianne,
There's not a huge amount of difference in performance outside of the unit's size.
The Wok Cooker is very big compared to the other smaller camp stove. It is designed to be able to hold and support Woks & distribute heat evenly over the larger curved base that woks have, but it can be used as a general cooker.
The camp stove is designed like a normal stove for your average flat-bottomed cookware.
They both use the same amount of gas & both have similar BTU outputs.
The main consideration in your choice would be aesthetics and overall size, which you can find in the dimension specifications.
Hope that helps.
Hi, Can you fit a 32cm frypan on this stove? Thanks
G'day Cameron,
We don't have any of these stoves currently in stock to try, but going off dimensions - yes, you can.
The only thing worth considering is that the burner won't be in the middle of the pan, due to the wind guards and the distance between the stove edge and the burner. Cast iron pans are a great option to offset this, as they'll allow for a more even cooking heat.
Does the Stove come with all the LPG Connections. ( hose /regulator) ect.
G'day Nev,
This is an unregulated gas stove that comes with a hose for a 3/8th BSP gas bottle.
If you have a gas bottle with a different attachment, you will require an adaptor.
Hi — we would like to use this stove to connect to the Swap N Go type bottles is there an adapter we can use?
G'day Les,
This stove has been designed to connect to a 3/8th BSP gas bottle, as POL bottles may interfere with the gas jets performance.
If you choose to go ahead and used with a POL bottle, you'll need this adapter.
Hi there, can you tell me which side the gas connector/tube/bottle needs to go on? Or is it possible to connect on both sides? I'm planning my cabinetry for my van build.
G'day Steph,
The hose connects to the right hand side of the stove, when you're facing it front on.
Hi! Just wondering if this product is compatible with this safety gas gauge eg.: https://www.bunnings.com.au/garth-gas-accessory-safety-gauge-with-hose-and-regulator_p0082321 We are thinking of hooking this up to a gas bottle (the swap n go kind). So it would link up like this: 2 burner high output stove ---> safety gauge --> gas bottle Thanks! Andy
G'day Andy,
The particular product you linked to requires you to replace the hose supplied with the stove, which you're not able to do. You can get the compatible Companion safety gauge here.
Hope that helps!
Does the ignition system on this stove require a battery?
G'day Chris,
No, the Piezo on the Companion 2 Burner High Output Stove is a manual one, that doesn't require a battery.
Primus model prior to name change
G'day Cale,
We might be able to source a replacement piezo for your stove, but we'd need to get our specials orders team to check in with Companion and find out what is available. If you're able to flick through an email with a picture of your stove you've got, we'll do our best to try and chase up a part for you.
My previous stove unit had the gas output on the right hand side in order to fit into the space created in the camper. Is this the same location for the gas connector here.
G'day Sue,
The Companion 2 Burner High Output Stove still has the gas fitting on the right-hand side, and should be the exact same size as your Primus version (they've had a name and colour change but are the exact same stove).
Hi, just checking if this unit can run off a Coleman Propane Camping Gas Lightweight LPG Bottle?
G'day Jack,
The 2 Burner High Output Stove is designed to be used directly from a 3/8" BSP LPG gas bottle, however you could use the UNEF to 3/8"BSP to run them from the Coleman lightweight LPG bottles. Please note that this is not recommended by Companion and something that you would do at your own risk.
The oztrail 3 burner carry bag does not appear to be available anymore. Will any other bag work?
G'day Tanya,
The Hyperflame Stove Carry Bag is a perfect fit for the 2 Burner High Output Stove.
Hi, I have this stove and the Companion Universal Stove Carry Bag and it’s a perfect fit.
I'm looking for a two burner low pressure cooker that can run of the spigot under the caravan. It need to be able to have two pans at once one with 280mm radius and the other with 270mm radius.
G'day Steve,
Unfortunately, you won't be able to use this stove with your Bayonet fitting on the caravan. This stove is a high-pressure stove, and can only be run directly from an LPG cylinder. Have a look at this blog post for options that will suit your needs. I'd suggest the Companion Double Wok Burner.
Which side does the hose connect and what is the longest hose available?
G'day Greg,
The Hose connects on the right-hand end of the stove.
The supplied hose is 1m long, which is the longest approved length for use with this stove.
It cannot be replaced with an alternative longer than this.
my gas stove (centre of LHS burner to centre of RHS burner) is 31 cm and I can't quite fit two average sized woks, at the same time, on the stove. How far apart is the centre of each burner to each other? (If more than 32 cm then you have a sale). thanks
G'day Nic,
I really did want this sale - but just can't make the distance wide enough!☺ The distance between the centre LH burner to the centre RH burner is 30.5cm and this seems to be fairly standard for all our bigger stoves. The Companion three-burner stove is about the only option as the burners are approx 36.5cm apart, however the BTU is only 8500 for each outside burner.
the burners have failed and the stove is dangerous as is - we'd like to get new burners rather than replace the stove. where can we get them?
G'day Brenno,
Sorry to hear that both burners have died! If it's still under its 3-year warranty and you bought it from Snowys we'll get you to complete a warranty form through our webpage which you can access HERE. Unfortunately, if a warranty doesn't apply, we can't get replacement burners for the gas stove and if both have stopped working there may be another issue with the stove. In this case, it would be safer to replace it with a new one.
Hey I have one of these stoves and it is definitely the best one I have ever used. But was wondering if there is a right angle fitting (stove end) that I can get
G'day Max,
There isn't a right-angled fitting for the stove attachment sorry, just the straight fitting on the hose the unit is supplied with.
Do you sell a bag to fit this stove? Apparently you don't stock the oz trail 3 burner bag.
G'day Dan,
The 2 Burner High Output Stove will fit well in the Coleman Hyperflame Stove Carry Bag, unfortunately, the 3 burner canvas stove bag is no longer available.
Hi, I see the previously recommended portable stand is no longer available. Which stand do you have in stock that would fit? Thanks!
G'day Aaron,
We currently sell two different stove stands, the Campfire and Outdoor Connection Stands. I personally quite like the Outdoor Connection Easy As Stove Stand as it's got a solid top and shelf, but the Campfire Stove Stand is more of a traditional style.
We like to make toast when camping....
G'day Michelle,
Yep! You can use the Companion Folding Toaster or the Campfire Gauze Toaster. Hope that helps!
I have one left over and wondering if it might fit on this stove?
G'day Lance,
This isn't something we've tried before and unfortunately, we're out of stock of the 2 Burner High Output Stove so we can't try it out for you at the moment. Theoretically, it could fit, but we think the grease cup might prove to be a problem. We'd be happy to test it out for you when we have more stock. Please just email back and we'll get on to it as soon as we have stock.
Suitable bag for this stove
G'day Kevin,
The Companion 2 Burner High Output Stove will fit in the Oztrail 3 Burner Stove Bag.
Is there a specific hotplate/griddle for the high output burner or could you please recommend one that would fit?
G'day Anne,
There is not a specific plate for the Companion 2 Burner High Output Stove but we've tried a few options and the Campfire 3 Burner Gas Cooker Plate fits this stove best.
What are the two tiny brass bolts in the box for?
G'day Max,
The two tiny brass bolts supplied with your 2 Burner High Output Stove are spare jets. These might be needed a few years down the track so make sure you store them somewhere safe.
Hello, I am considering this Companion camping stove as an emergency back up in power cuts, for two people. Can I use it with a 2 kg Gasmate bottle?
G'day Cecilia,
The Companion 2 Burner High Output Stove can be used with a 2kg Gasmate bottle. If you are keeping it on hand as an emergency backup just
Hi, I’d like to use this with the Oztrail compact kitchen - would it fit if I removed the cooker’s side wind shields? Or would you recommend taking off the compact kitchen’s sides instead? Thanks!
G'day Ingrid,
You should be able to use the Companion 2 Burner High Output Stove on the Oztrail Compact Kitchen with a very slight adjustment. The sides of the windshield on the Kitchen can be unclipped to open out the sides and give you a little more space if it's a bit squeezy.
.
G'day Nick,
The best portable stand we'd have for this stove is the Zempire Stove Stand.
Can you place utensils on them while cooking (similar to Coleman Eventemp)? Will the main lid/back support stay upright without being connected to the side windshields?
G'day GR,
The side panels will fold outwards but they do sit on a bit of an angle. If you do this on both sides, unfortunately, the lid won't support itself and stay upright.
Hi, I was wondering if the pots from the Campfire 3 in 1 Cook Set Large would fit on this side by side?
G'day Rob,
You've got about 55cm of width to fit pots on the Companion 2 Burner High Output stove. I've been down to the shop floor and tried out the Campfire 3 in 1 Cookset and the largest pots will fit on there easily.
hi, This sounds silly but not sure what the 2 screws in the bag are for? Could you please advise? Thanking you in advance
G'day Viv,
The two little screws that come with the Companion 2 Burner High Output Stove are spare jets. So if one gets blocked or falls out and you lose it, you can replace it without too many concerns.
This question has been asked before but as it was 2 years ago I thought it was worth asking again. What is currently the best bag option for this? Possibly the Coleman hyper flame bag (138764)?
G'day Dan,
The Coleman Hyperflame Bag will certainly do the job for you with your Companion 2 Burner High Output Stove. Alternatively, you could look at the Oztrail 3 Burner Stove Canvas Bag.
How does this stove perform in cold or even sub-zero conditions? (thinking desert).
G'day Mike,
I've just had a chat with one of our gas cooking experts, Kevin. He told me that the Primus 2 Burner High Output Stoves will still work without too many issues at all in sub-zero temperatures. Being a propane powered stove, propane will still burn when it's as low as -40, obviously the colder it is, the colder the flame will be but it will still burn and still be able to cook your food.
Just some followup I used this storm in desert temps including sub-zero and it was flawless
Hi there, the measurements given on your site 63L x 32D x 11.5H cm are these including the knobs, hinges and the feet at the bottom of the stove?
G'day Bridget,
I've just taken my tape measure to the shop floor to double check the measurements on the Primus 2 Burner High Output Stove for you. The measurements on our site do include the knobs, hinges and feet.
Is there a longer hose or extension hose available to suit this stove?
G'day Natalie,
The longest hose that will work with your Primus 2 Burner High Output Stove is 1.2m. You can grab one of those here.
*Update 1/8/18* Apologies everyone, we've made a bit of an error here - it turns out that there isn't actually a longer extension hose that is compatible with the Companion 2 Burner High Output Stove at this time. We're sorry if this has inconvenienced anyone!
I'm using a 4kg gas bottle with POL right angled adapter with this stove but it doesn't let any gas through. Is this a regulator issue?
G'day Mike,
I honestly can't be sure. As we're not qualified gas specialists, we don't have the training to identify gas issues, nor are we able to offer any advice. As you can imagine, gas products require professional oversight.
However, we can recommend/encourage you to speak to a gas specialist such as Maxbilt in Norwood. They have been great a great help to people in similar situations to yourself in the past.
What Cooker plate would be best to purchase for this?
G'day Bill,
I've just wandered downstairs to check which would fit best on the Primus 2 Burner High Output Stove. The Campfire 3 Burner Gas Cooker Plate fits the Primus 2 Burner High Output Stove like a glove, almost like they were made for each other - Like Romeo & Juliet but with a much happier ending. You can find these cooker plates here.
Will this stove work with Coleman Propane canister and if so do you have an adapter for the hose?
G'day Glenn,
To use with a Coleman Propane Cylinder with the Primus 2 Burner High Output Stove, you'll need a new fitting/hose with a BOM fitting.
Thanks Ben, do you have that in stock and if so what is the part number please?
G'day Glenn,
Unfortunately, we don't carry it as stock, however, if you'd like to give our customer support team a call on 1300 914 007, they will be more than happy to look into options and if you want to proceed, they can place a special order for you.
Thanks Ben, but I have had a response from Companion, and they have said I can't use that stove with a disposable propane canister, only the hose supplied with the unit.
G'day Glenn,
Sorry about this. That's strange, however, because I rang and spoke with Companion... would you like me to follow up and clarify? Maybe there has been some misunderstanding.
Hi Ben, if you could please. Just to make sure we are on the same page, I am wanting to use the Coleman 453g disposable propane bottles with this stove. Cheers
G'day Glenn,
In many ways, there is still a little confusion about the suitability, however, on further investigation, the official word from Companion is that you can't use canisters with the Primus Stoves. Sorry to initially mislead you.
No worries Ben, I don't think you misled me, there was confusion about what I really was after and we both came to the same conclusion. I will just need to buy a coleman 2 burner that uses the propane canisters. Cheers and thanks
is it 25 000 BTU per burner or per two burners ?
G'day Chen.
I've just checked the box to confirm, and yes the burners on the Primus 2 Burner High Output Stove are 25,000 BTU's each.
What's the difference between the 2 burner HO stove and the 2 burner HO regulated stove? Does this have anything to do with the ability to cook at low heat/simmer?
Hi Kim, both stoves come with a regulator so neither is "unregulated". The only real difference between the 2 stoves is the heat output. This one puts out 25,000 BTU where the High Output Regulated Two Burner Stove only puts out 10,000 BTU. It certainly will be easier to cook at a low temperature on the 10,000 BTU stove so if a lot of your camp cooking is done this way then that may be the best choice for you. However if you're mainly grilling up a big steak or boiling big pots of water for your pasta or spuds, then the 25,000 BTU stove is the one for the job!Â
I'm interested in this stove for frequent camping trips but curious as to how much it gas it burns through with such high heat output. Camping with minimal equipment often potentially means raking a smaller LPG bottle. Feedback on approximated 'run time' on lowest and highest heat settings certainly appreciated. Thank you
Hi Joanne,
This stove uses 524gms per hour of gas whilst on the highest setting. Unfortunately Primus don't list the fuel consumption when used on the lowest setting, but this should give you an idea.
If you were to use a 2kg gas bottle for example, then you would get approximately 4 hours run time using both burners on the highest setting. Obviously at times you would probably only be using one burner, and perhaps at a much lower heat. I hope this helps!Â
Does this stove connect to 9kg gas bottles with the supplied hose?
G'day Scott,Â
I've just checked the fitting on the 2 Burner High Output Stove from Primus, and it comes with a 1200mm gas hose and regulator for direct connection to 3/8" gas cylinders.
If you'd like to use a 9kg gas bottle with this stove, you'll need an adaptor like the POL-3/8" adaptor from Primus which will do the trick nicely.Â
Hi, I'm curious if this stove is compatible with lightweight LPG bottles like the Coleman light weight gas cylinders http://www.colemanaustralia.com.au/product/coleman-lightweight-lpg-bottle/1217564?contextCategory=0607. If so what sort of adaptor will I need, or can they be connected directly to the regulator hose supplied with this stove?
Hi - The manufacturer states that this stove must only be used with their Part No. 2219-01. Do you stock this and if so how much? I'm concerned that if I needed a hose whilst on the road it might be hard to come by.
