Comparison with exped1 answer
How do these compare with exped's 15cm mat in terms of comfort, disruption to bedmates, ease of pack up etc? There is a big price difference and I like that this is wider

We haven't had these for very long - less than a year, so it's hard to provide any meaningful comparison in terms of durability and longevity at this stage.
We can say that Exped have been around for years and years, and are generally considered the Rolls Royce of camp mats. I have heard of some people who use them as their mattress at home. Exped are more of a top tear brand that have higher quality and more technical gear - they would have researched all foams and materials, valves, etc to end up with a premium product with a 5 year warranty. Basically, that's where the additional price difference comes into it.
Oztrail are a great family camping brand, that make a range of really great everyday camping gear and, in the case of the Fatmat, offer more affordable options for some products. The Oztrail will pack abit larger than the Exped, which is something to consider if you're short on space.
For the most part feedback on these have been pretty good, and they do seem to be great value for money.

The Oztrail Fatmat 1500 is a Queen size at 150cm wide so it wouldn't fit the single size, the largest width of a stretcher we have is 144cm with the Oztrail Queen Stretcher. It would have a little overhang and the stretcher also has straps on each corner to help secure the mat in place.
The Oztrail Easy Fold Queen Stretcher has a central bar that can make fitting a queen-size mat a little tricky, as you'll generally end up with a bit of a ridge down the centre. Some people don't have any issues with this. The Fat mat is very thick at 15cm, and is a touch larger than the Easy Fold Queen Stretchers, so it could also be that the overall size of this mattress will offset any potential issues from that central bar.
Two single mattresses will give you a more comfortable overall set-up, and a little more flexibility for other sleeping options too.

As this is a self-inflating mat, it doesn't actually need a pump - it will draw air in through its valve and expand the internal foam. If you're wanting to make the mattress more firm than it gets on its own, we recommend using a manual pump to prevent damage and over inflation, but a powered pump can be used with care. The valve on the fatmat is quite large & isnt directly compatible with any particular pump. You should be able to use any of these pumps, just be aware you'll need to hold them up against the valve as the wont connect.

Yes it does. There are very few un-bonded mats these days. Bonding means the external fabric is adhered to the internal foam in some capacity, which helps with even inflation & a nice surface.

Often 2 singles are recommended for a queen stretcher. The central supporting bar on the stretcher can cause a hiccup on a double mattress, forcing the centre of it up abit, and may see you rolling off towards the edges. Having said that though, some people don't have any issues with it at all. Might be a case for the princess and the pea type situation. The Fat mat is very thick at 15cm, and is a touch larger than the Easy Fold Queen Stretchers, so it could also be that the overall size of this mattress will offset any potential issues from that central bar. If you do decide to go with two singles, we recommend getting grabbing a mat coupler to anchor them together so they'll sit perfectly on the stretcher.
