The gaps between the shelves ar around 25-30cm. The bottom compartment is on the shorter side, where as the top compartment is abit taller. Hope that helps.

The top of this cupboard is fabric so anything placed on top would be fairly unstable. If you're after a solid top then the Oztrail 4 Shelf Deluxe Cupboard is another option.
