How many kilometers range can I expect with no interference from hills, etc ( ie straight roads)

GME don't provide distance specifications, are there's no universal answer and a whole host of variables that can affect this, not just hills. A quick google search shows that 5 watts will generally cover you around 15km. So you'd probably be safe to use this as a rough guide.
