I bought one of these recently and have just used it for a weekend away. Great little toilet generally but I had issues with waste somehow splashing out (only very small amounts) as I was driving along, and I can’t work out if I’ve done something wrong in putting it all together?? Or could this happen because it was full and ready to be emptied? Help!
Leonie - Kingston(4 years ago)
G'day Leonie,
Sorry to hear you've had some spillages in transit. There could be a couple of reasons for this, with one likelihood that the waste tank is full, so it would be worth double-checking that before getting on the move. The other thing to note is that changes in ambient temperature and height above sea level can cause pressure differentials in the tank which could lead to the possibility of spilling. Dometic suggest opening and closing the slide valve with the seat cover closed to equalise the pressure. Hopefully, that helps.

Also check the breather switch is on closed. We recently travelled off road on some rough tracks and I had forgotten to close the breather. Never again!

Toilet paper 1 answer
Do you put toilet paper in these? Is there chemicals that break it down and do you recommend a particular toilet paper
Raff - Forestville (5 years ago)
G'day Raff,
The 976 Portable Toilet takes regular toilet paper and the waste tank chemical will break it down along with the other waste.

Can these spill1 answer
Hi, new to these types of toilets. Can they spill while travelling?
Steve - Canberra(6 years ago)
G'day Steve,
The Dometic toilets come with a double seal and therefore shouldn't spill when travelling. However, to be safe, we would recommend ensuring that you don't overfill the toilet tank and ensure that you travel with the tank on its base.

Dimensions?1 answer
Can you confirm the width, depth and height measurements please. The picture of the unit suggests the H (height) in the description is incorrect so maybe they are mislabeled? Trying to check if this will fit where I want.
Jill - Torquay(7 years ago)
G'day Jill,
It seems that we've just got a little mixed up there, I'll make sure that those dimensions get changed so no-one else gets confused Jill.
In the meantime, the correct height should be 38.7cm, the depth is 38.7 cm and the width should be 33.4 cm.
