The adaptable, efficient and warm Ascent Ac3 from Sea to Summit is the down sleeping bag that will keep you comfortable on most of your expeditions.
The Ac3 has a -11°C comfort rating and -18° lower limit so its suited for use in colder conditions. This bag features a tapered rectangular shape making it roomier than a mummy bag, while still providing thermal efficiency. You can easily adjust the Ascent according to the weather thanks to the free-flow triple zips. The half zip on the right side means you can fold it down to free up your arms, the full-length zip and separate foot zip allows you to use it as a quilt when it’s hot, and you can close it all up on a cooler night.
Insulation is provided by the R.D.S certified 750+ loft down, while the vertical baffles over the chest help prevent cold spots forming. For maximum insulation, there’s a side block baffle to keep the 60/40 fill ratio and the oversized draft tubes trap your body heat. The shell and lining of this bag are made from lightweight nylon to keep the weight down, while the large internal security pocket allows you to keep valuables safe and sound as you snooze.

I purchase this sleeping bag around 12 months ago and have just noticed a 2 inch tear/separation on one of the seams and the material is starting to fray. What would be the best way to fix this?
Can you please confirm whether this bag opens completely flat like a quilt? The description suggest this but the video did not show it. Thanks.

G'day Daniel,
Yep, you can fully unzip the Ascent if required. The foot zip and side zip are separate components, so if you want to unzip the side and keep the foot box together to tuck your feet into, thats an option aswell.

Sea to Summit liner suitable for Ascent III1 answer
Which S2S liner would you recommend for the Ascent III? The bag is warm enough so thermal qualities are least important. I'm more concerned about shape and material. Thanks.
Bucky - Melbourne(3 years ago)
G'day Bucky,
It's really up to personal and budget preference, however, generally we'd recommend a silk liner with the Ascent III, as this will keep your weight and bulk down. The Silk Liner Hooded Mummy would be my suggestion, or if you're looking for something a little more budget-friendly then the Silk Cotton Travel Liner is also popular.

Sizing1 answer
Hi Does the Ac3 long come with a compression bag ? What size does it compact down to with a compression bag ? Length and width ? Asking as your sizes say 44 long which is way to big. Thank you
Brendon - Narellan (3 years ago)
G'day Brendon,
Yes the Ascent Ac3 Long comes with an Ultra-sil Compression sack. The compression sack is Sea to Summits Medium size, which is 44L x 20D cm. Once compressed you are usually to get them to about 25L cm depending on how much air you squeeze out while packing away.

Regular or Long 1 answer
I am 182cm tall will regular be ok or should I go for the long
Bill - 2290(4 years ago)
G'day Bill,
You're right on the edge of the height restriction for the regular bag. Our video star Ben is 185cm and he gets in the bag in the video and talks about how he fits in it. It would be worth having a look at the video before you decide. If you like a bit of extra space then I'd recommend the Long.

Sleeping bag - which one? 1 answer
Hi, I am looking to replace my old Faithfull with a newer down bag. I purchased the OZTent sleeping bag of Snowys mid last year but am still needing a warmer bag. Mainly for use in a swag in Tassie's cold weather. I was looking at the Ascent AC2/3 or the Explore EX2 /3. Cost isn't an issue. Are there any other bags you sell that would suit ? Thanks in advance.
Dory - Molesworth, Tas(4 years ago)
G'day Dory,
Honestly mate, I don't think you can go wrong with any Sea to Summit Sleeping Bag! But for keeping cozy in Tassie's weather I think you might be better off with one of the 3's you've mentioned as against the 2's. The Ultra-Dry Down will offer the warmth you need without all the weight so your biggest decision comes down to shape and whether you're a wriggly sleeper who prefers a bit more room around your feet? If so, the Ex3 might be more suitable than the tapered shape of the Ac3 although with that you do comprise on just a couple of degrees of thermal efficiency around your feet. Hope that helps :)
