The Darche ATM 1100 is a king-sized single mat that’s ideal for combining with your swag, stretcher or tent for a soundless snooze under the stars.
The top is constructed from a rugged 75D peach finished polyester with a luxurious finish, and the underside is a waterproof 300D oxford with PVC coating so it’s easy to wipe down. This fully bonded mat has curved edges to make it easy to fit into your swag – this mat is also designed to fit on top of most camping stretchers. Once inflated, this mat provides 100mm of cushioned comfort and is also created to withstand the punishing Australian conditions.
Made from open cell high-density foam, the ATM won’t lose its R-Value or shrink over time, resists mould and also provides warmth and support as you sleep. This mat also absorbs sound, meaning there’s less noise compared to other camping mats. Built tough and most importantly comfortable, the ATM 1100 will complete your outdoor sleeping system for your future expeditions.
Hi what is the R rating of this mattress?
G'day Gerard,
Unfortunately, Darche have not has these mattresses tested for an R-Value, so we aren't able to provide any further info on this.
You could probably take a stab around 4-5, but that is a rough guess when compared to other mattresses with similar specifications.
G'day, I'm hoping to use the 1100 for car camping. The narrowest point between the wheel arches is 102cm, the rest is plenty wide enough. Is the mattress durable enough the squeeze in or am I likely to damage it?
G'day Simon,
It's hard to say for sure, it's one of those situations where you'll just have to try it.
I reckon it will be a tight fit and you'll have to really stuff it in, but it should work. The mattress itself across the section might buckle and not sit great, but that might not be that much of a problem.
If you're only going for shorter trips of 2-3 nights it shouldn't be too bad, but I wouldn't want to keep it like that for longer.
Are these darche all terrain mats better than the old style ones. I currently have 3 of the old style with the valves in the corners and all 3 have leaks in the corners where the valves are bonded to the mattress. I'm looking to replace them but don't know which way to go
G'day Simon,
I'm not familiar with the old version sorry, but the current model has mixed reviews.
I think in terms of self-inflating mattresses there are great alternative options out there, however, if you are specifically needing that 1100 size to fit in a swag, there's no other option within our range.
The single/king single options max out at around 80cm wide, and the doubles are around 130cm wide.
Gday Do you undo all 6 values to inflate mattress
G'day Kevin,
You can use either a couple or all 6 valves, depending on your inflate and firmness preference.
There are 4 valves on the 900 and 6 on the 1100 and 1400 sizes.
Will this fit an RS1 swag on a stretcher
G'day Stephen,
The RS-1 Swag is a little too narrow for an ATM 1100 mattress. We'd probably recommend going for a 90cm wide self-inflating mat or getting some custom foam cut somewhere like Clarke Rubber.
I understand this was two years ago, and completely irrelevant for you now however, I did decide to risk it with the Darche 1100 in the RS-1. I quite frankly could not for the life of me find an inflatable foam mattress that would fit perfectly (1030mm-1070mm) so I winged it with this in hopes it would be okay. Once inflated, slip it in the swag and put it over the base support pole that runs the length of the swag, adjacent to the door wall. Once it's over that pole, it will fit in nice and snug. It does push that sloped wall out at the bottom a bit although, it doesn't affect the operation of the swag and tightens that wall, making it more aesthetically pleasing in my opinion. It does sit into the two main pole junctions in either corner, but not to the pressure point of any puncturing to occur. I have found this to be the most suitable solution for a comfortable mattress to fit the OzTent RS-1 Swag. Like others have already mentioned, it is quite a mission to roll and pack back up, but patients is key. A good anger management activity. That's my two bobs worth, hope it helps someone in future
Thanks so much for your feedback, Cooper! Loads of helpful info there.
Can these mats be deflated and rolled up inside a dusk till dawn or dirty dee 1100 without having too much trouble getting the swag back into it’s bag??
G'day Brad,
The Darche All Terrain Mattress is great product, however it can be abit of trick to roll it up at the best of times. Whilst it can be rolled up and stored in your swag without damaging the mattress, its best for it to be pulled out and rolled up/deflated as much as possible on its own before hand. It would be pretty difficult to roll the both up from scratch at the same time.
Because the mat can be pretty chunky, its highly unlikely you wont fit the swag & mat combo back in your bag.
Would this fit a darche roof top tent?and once deflated can it be left in there when roof top folded away
G'day Geoff,
You'll be able to use the Darche All Terrain Mattress ATM1100 in your rooftop tent in place of the supplied mattress and pack it up inside the tent. However, we'd generally recommend the Roof Top Tent Mattress RTM 1400 instead as this will fit your rooftop tent perfectly!
How does this mattress compare to the exped mega mat and the black wolf deluxe mat? Is it as comfortable? I am looking for max comfort in my darche ridgedome swag (1100mm wide) but see both the exped and black wolf are 1300mm wide (am worried it will be too big for my 1100mm wide swag?
G'day Will,
It sounds like the Darche is going to be the best fit for your swag, and whilst they are a comfortable mat, they're not as 'soft' or comfortable as the Exped and Black Wolf offerings. But this is just my opinion of course!
