The Darche ATM 900 Mattress is the hardwearing self-inflating mat that’ll provide you with comfort in your swag, tent or stretcher as you catch some shuteye under the stars.
This fully bonded mat has curved edges so it’s a breeze to add into your favourite swag, and is also designed to fit most single camping stretchers. When fully inflated, the ATM provides 100mm of cushioning and is made from materials that can withstand the harsh Australian environment. The top is made from a luxurious yet rugged 75D peach finished polyester, with a PVC coating, while the bottom is a waterproof 300D oxford with PVC coating which is also easy to clean.
Constructed using premium open cell high-density foam, this mat won’t lose its R-Value or shrink over time, resists mould and also ensures plenty of support and warmth. The ATM also has excellent sound absorption, so it rules out annoying squeaking or rustling whenever you roll over. Rugged, comfy and fully bonded – the ATM 900 is the perfect touring companion to complete your sleeping system.
I like the 90w width of this mat as I have broad shoulders more than 70cm across. (most single mats too skinner) BUT I'm hearing it is hard to roll up tightly. compared to others eg Darche Kozi (that is barely adequate 80cm width) . Is this true and why is it so?
G'day Rosco,
Yep, it is true - the Darche All Terrain mats are basically the older style 4WD mats that were quite common in the 90's and early 2000's, with PVC edging.
They're not as soft as other self-inflating mat options, so can be quite stiff to roll up, and they don't have a one way valve meaning that they'll continue to try and expand as you're rolling them up.
If you've got an extra pair of hands its not as bad, but it can be a challenge to do solo.
Will this fit on the OZtrail Easy Fold Single Jumbo Stretcher?
G'day Rudolph,
Yes the Darche 900 Mattress will be a great fit on the OZtrail Jumbo Stretcher, you should have no worries using these together.
Does fully bonded mean the top and bottom skins are attached to the internal foam so that it doesn’t bulge out in the centre like a balloon if you blow extra air into it? I bought a Dune 4x4 ‘premium’ self-inflating mattress and if you put extra air into it, it doesn’t get firmer, the top skin just bulges up in the centre so that if you lay on top it just feels like a waterbed.
G'day Ben,
You've hit the nail on the head, fully bonded means that the foam and skin fabric are attached, so you won't get those bulges like you've experienced on the 4x4 style mat in the past.
Hi, will this fit inside an Air−Volution™ AD 900 Swag? Also can you roll up the swag with it deflated inside?
G'day Nathan,
Yes, the 900 refers to mm width, so the 900 mattress is designed to fit in 900 wide swags.
You'll have no trouble rolling the swag up with the mattress inside, but the ATM can take abit of effort to roll up, so we recommend pulling the mattress out and deflating it as much as possible before putting it back in the swag & rolling it all away.
Hope that helps.
Would this work as a mattress topper in a roof top tent and still be able to fold the tent up with the mattress inside? The base mattress is too hard.
G'day Jeff,
It wouldnt unfortunately, you could possibly look at replacing your existing mattress with a RTT specific option like this one here.
Will two of these 900mm wide All Terrain mattresses actually fit in the 1800mm space of my Sportiva 9 Dome tent? Or is the space in the tent actually going to be smaller than 1800mm?
G'day Michelle,
Generally, you'll lose about 10cm of floor space due to the pitch of the tent sides. You might find that 2 x 900 wide mattresses are a little bit too wide to fit into the space you have.
want a wide mat to replace my original swag mattress which is 95o wide.
G'day Steve,
I can confirm that the Darche 900 Wide All Terrain Mattress is actually 900 wide.
Would you know how big it would make the roll up size, if added into a Dusk to Dawn 900. Will the swag still fit into the original swag bag.
G'day Matthew,
If you remove the regular mattress in your swag and replace it with the 900 Wide All Terrain Mattress then your swag should roll up a tiny bit larger but will still fit in the bag.
Even thought 5cm overhang lenthways 2.4cm each end is nothing, but the width would then side well on this stretcher, Otherwise is there any other products? seems many are made for the narrow but little for the wider?
G'day Sean,
Theoretically, the All Terrain Mattress ATM 900 will fit the Gecko Stretcher, but as you say you end up with some overhang which generally leads to a bit of a dip forming in the mat. We recommend going for a narrower self-inflating mat like the Deluxe Camp Mat.
Hey guys looking upgrade my Wanderer self inflating mats with something a little more comfortable and can’t decide between the Darche and the Zempire. I’m leaning towards the Darche because it will fit in my dusk to dawn swag and if I end up getting two Darche stretchers then the wife and I will both be comfortable in our tent. How do the two mats compare comfort wise despite the Zempire being a touch narrower? (I’m a solid unit who doesn’t want a narrow mat) Thanks
G'day Dave,
Thanks for your question about the Darche ATM 900 and Zempire Monstamat. The Darche mats will fit your swag nicely in size, however, they are rather bulky when they pack up, so just make sure you've got space to transport them. Comfort wise the Zempire mats get great feedback and are really comfy, the new Darche mats have some mixed reviews about comfort though. I would personally steer toward the Zempire mat, but both are good quality options.
How warm do they keep ya.
G'day Jeff,
Darche doesn't test the All Terrain Mattress ATM 900 for an R-value. However, this type of mat will keep you warm in most Australian conditions.
Does the Darche XL100 camp stretcher need a mattress? What do you recommend?
G'day Leanne,
The Darche ATM 900 will fit nicely on top of the Darche XL 100 stretcher. The stretcher doesn't need a mattress but it'll definitely make it more comfortable and warmer in the cold weather as well.
