If you need some extra shade and seclusion at the caravan park or campsite, then the Privacy Screen from Supex will lend a helping hand.
This screen is made from 199gsm 90% shade cloth, which will keep off the sun so you can stay cooler inside your RV or caravan. It also comes with all the pegs and ropes you need to set it up, several different sizes to suit different models, and is backed by an industry leading 4-year warranty.
If you’d like to relax in your caravan without the intrusion of the sun or prying eyes, set up the Privacy Screen from Supex.
I cannot see any reference to UV - does 95% mean 95% protection from UV?
G'day Melissa,
These do not come with a UV rating.
The percentage is a universal grade of shade cloth, relating to the percentage of shade versus sunlight that is shade cloth allows. Shade cloth for gardens is 70%, for example.
This purely means that 95% of sunlight will be blocked by the cloth...or only 5% of sunlight will pass through it.
Hope that helps.
I’ve read on other products that they have a 4mm rope for wind out awnings or 6mm version for roll out awnings. Which type is this designed for?
G'day Cameron,
The Supex Caravan Privacy Screens have the standard 6mm sail track that will suit most awnings. Some European brands use 4mm sail track, so it can depend on the brand of awning you have.
as above
G'day Owen,
It's hard to say for sure, as we don't know the exact specs of your awning, but sail track/spline in Australia is a consistent size, so I'd assume that NZ probably uses the same convention.
Would this type of privacy screen fit an Xtend bag awning?
G'day Nicole,
We're not overly familiar with the Xtend Awnings, however, the Caravan Privacy Screens will fit most awnings that have a sail track channel on the outer edge.
HI.. I was wondering if you have any feedback in regards to whether the black awning gets hot and attracts more heat than the silver. I like the black for the additional privacy but was wondering if it would make the area behind it hotter. thanks
G'day Paul,
I don't think you'd have too much trouble. The privacy screen is essentially just providing shade and privacy, and being a shade cloth in conjunction with an outside area, you'll still have airflow.
Hope that helps.
Hi we want this for shade For the other side of Our van will this go onto a standard sailtrack that we have put their ourselves no awning
G'day Tammy,
Yes the Caravan Privacy Awning slots directly into standard sailtrack so you shouldn't have any troubles setting this up.
My awning is 4.7 mts, inside to inside support poles
G'day Geoff,
The privacy screen does come in Grey in the 4.6metre. The two colours should appear above to click on and the drop-down box should let you choose the size.
Hi . We have a awning on our carvan which is 4.51 to centre of poles. would it be best for the 4.2m privacy screen is it will give is 15cm at each end of an opening ? OR get the 4.6?
G'day Josh,
It would be worth having a quick read of Kevin's handy size guide, but based on your measurements my thoughts would be to go for the 4.2m to give yourself a secure fit, otherwise, you'll end up with some excess that might flap around a bit.
Hi is the awning suitable to be used on a caravan rollout awning with 3 tent poles ie are there d rings at both top and bottom of awning
G'day Karen,
The Caravan Privacy Screens have a sail track attachment to feed into an awning, and then D rings at the bottom for securing to the ground. If you don't have sail track channel then a Pop Top End Wall Awning Screen might work, they use velcro loops to loop around the extension poles.
I need whichever is the “harder” material.
G'day Geoff,
Ive just pulled out the 2 different screens instore to sus out the shadecloth and compare. Honestly, if they werent marked as having different gsm, you couldnt tell the difference. Both look and feel identical, not just in thickness but in the weave, how the fabric moves, and its flexibility. If you're needing a 'heavier' screen, the rule of thumb would be to go with the higher gsm, but in terms of a harder or stiffer fabric, its a much of a muchness.
For Avida Leura motorhome
G'day Jan,
I'm not familiar with your particular awning sorry, but the Supex Caravan Privacy Screens attach using a standard sail track so if your awning has this facility it shouldn't be a problem at all.
Hello, What is the vertical drop measurement on the 4.6m length. Also, are there any eyelets down the sides as i would like to fix to the annex leg. Does ut cone with pegs and ropes? thanks
G'day Brian,
I've just double checked and the Caravan Privacy Screens have sail track at the top and D-Loops at the bottom but no eyelets along the sides. They come with pegs and ropes.
You advertise this as a 3.4m product however the photo shown shows as size as 3.7m which is correct? Can you tell me what the spline size is? and whether it is suitable for a Carefree awning
The photo is an image of just one of the 7 sizes we sell this privacy screen in, Frank, just make sure you choose the right size for your awning. It's worth noting too, that the actual dimensions are a little less than those of the actual awning it is suited for i.e. a screen for a 3.4m awning actually measures around 3.2 metres. I hope that makes sense.
As for the spline size, it isn't stated anywhere, but visually it looks to be around 5-6mm. All the caravan roll-out awnings share the same spline size, regardless of manufacturer, so this will be fine for your Carefree Awning.
Do you measure from inside the awning legs or from the middle of legs?
It's not an exact science regarding these privacy screens, Jenny, they don't always fit exactly but there is usually enough give in the fabric to stretch or squash the size closest to your measurements. The best place to measure the awning size is from
Measure the exact size of your actual awning....not the roller. That way you can be sure it will fit
Will this screen suit a dometic sunchaser awning
G'day Fiona,
The SPEX Caravan Privacy Screen has standard sail track so should fit into the railing on your van. As long as the dimensions fit it should work with your sunchaser awning.
