optimal temperature while camping?1 answer
hi - not specific to Dometic, but like many on here I don't seem to get much runtime out of my fridge while camping. I suspect I may have it set too cold, thus drawing a lot of power. what are the optimal temperature setting for camping fridges and freezers in Australia in summer? thanks
carolina - South Fremantle, WA (1 month ago)
G'day Carolina,
It is best to set your fridge between 2°C - 4 °C and freezers between -10°C and -20°C. There are certain foods that may need to be colder than others but generally setting the temp to 4°C for a fridge and -10°C for a freezer will be the most efficient.
Cooling your fridge with mains power and adding already cold food and drinks to the fridge before you leave for your trip can reduce the amount of power needed.
Warmer ambient temps will also make your fridge compressor run more to get down to the set temperature. An insulated cover, avoiding direct sunlight, keeping the lid closed and making sure the fridge is well-ventilated can increase the efficiency of a fridge.
Hi. What is the overall height with the door open at it’s highest point? Thanks Snowys, keep up the great work!
Justyn - Broken Hill, NSW (1 year ago)
I'd allow for about 100cm, Justyn, it measures 99cm to the edge of the lid but then theres a little bit sticking out for the latch.

Slide1 answer
Hi will this work on the brass monkey slide? This appears to be slightly smaller on the specs so I’d assume it fits? Thanks
chris - Holt, ACT (1 year ago)
G'day Chris,
It's not something that we've actively tried before but can't see any reason why it wouldn't work. The Dometic fridge does no exceed the largest compatible Brass Monkey fridge, so I think it's a safe bet.

Dometic CFX 451 answer
Is this unit weather proof? As it will be spending the majority of its time in the Ute tub with a cover over the back however water crossings from time to time allow water to get in the tub.
Mitchell - Launceston, TAS(3 years ago)
G'day Mitchell,
Definitely not recommended I'm sorry! Dometic states in their manual that the fridges cannot be exposed to rain/water.

Dimensions without Handles1 answer
Are you able to tell me the length of this firdge without the handles attached please
Ben - Quakers Hill, NSW(3 years ago)
G'day Ben,
You might have missed it in our schematic diagram as the writing is fairly small. The CFX3 45L is 63cm without the handles.

what does the cfx345 rest on?1 answer
ie. rubber "feet" if so how thick?
Ivan - Echuca, VIC(3 years ago)
G'day Ivan,
I've double-checked our display model and the feet are only about 5mm in height and a similar width with a slight taper where they meet the ground. They seem to be made of a hard plastic and are dotted around the edge of the fridge.

Fridge slide1 answer
I cant see a Dometic fridge slide for the CFX3 45 on your site. What slide do you recommend for this fridge?
Chris - Kew, VIC(3 years ago)
G'day Chris,
Unfortunately, the CFX3 Slides aren't available yet, Dometic had indicated that they would follow the release of the CFX3 fridges, but this hasn't happened yet. You could use the CFX 50-65 size slide, or the Engel 530-540 Slide, however, both options will be a little larger than the fridge itself, so you'd need to make a few alterations to secure the fridge to the slide itself.

how much amp does it consume? 1 answer
Hi Snowys Outdoors, how much amp does it consume when running on freezer mode when maintaining as -20c in indoor? I am considering it with PLB40 but was not confident how many hrs it would run. Could someone please help? Thanks
Alex - Melbourne(3 years ago)
G'day Alex,
The average consumption in fridge mode is the only verified figure supplied, so while running this in freezer mode we'd expect it will consume roughly double this figure, so somewhere around 2-3Ah/h. We'd recommend ensuring you have a way to re-charge your PLB40 (e.g. solar) so that the battery can be replenished during the day.

Fridge Space1 answer
Do you have to keep a space around the fridge in the boot or can you pack luggage right next to it?
Lynn - Windsor(4 years ago)
G'day Lynn,
You can pack items directly next to the fridge, you'll just want to keep a little bit of space next to the compressor vents so the fridge doesn't get too hot.
