Curved Roof Rafter1 answer
How many of these bars are recommended for an annex 4m in length ? And why the 2 different options in curve height ?
Kym - Wodonga, VIC (6 days ago)
G'day Kym,
You would want 2 roof rafters for an annex of that size.
Generally you want to aim for a rafter that is curved enough to keep the canopy taught, but not so tight that it stretches the fabric too much.
The Supex Slight Curve Rafter which has an approximate curvature of 25-35mm, has a rounded profile to help protect your awning from wear against the rafter and would be a perfect option for newer awnings or those looking to add some support without stretching the fabric too much.
Older awnings that have already stretched and sagged over time would benefit from one of the larger curvatures like the the Supex Acute Curved Rafter which has a slightly larger curve of 65-75mm. This provides a bit more tension to the canopy for better protection against wind flap and water pooling.

Do you know who would supply a curved spreader pole that would fit a 2.5m Kings side awning? The quality of the KIngs awning is so poor that I need to support it with a middle curved spreader pole. 1 answer
The first time that we camped in our Teardrop Camper the awning tent collapsed due to rain. The aluminium thickness and quality is extremely poor. I paid an aluminium welder $150 to fix the awning.
Gary Gilbert - Manly West(3 years ago)
G'day Gary,
These particular spreader bars are designed for caravan awnings which are a little different from your typical 4WD side awning, so you could possibly find a way to adapt these to fit, but it might not work. I guess you could try this, as it will likely be a cheaper option than a new awning.

Maximum length1 answer
Is it 243cm or 275cm? Ty
David - Yarraville(4 years ago)
G'day David,
The roof rafters are extendable - 243cm is the shortened length and 275cm is the maximum length they extend to.

Do these fit expanda jay or 20161 answer
What ones do I get
Tracy - Ellenbrook(4 years ago)
G'day Tracy,
We find that most people will go for the Slight Curve as it will give you good tension without too much stretch on the awning.

Is this the new mk 3 version or older mk 21 answer
Is this supex rafter the new mk3 version or older mk2.
Bob - Cootamundra(5 years ago)
G'day Bob,
Thanks for your enquiry. I contacted our rep at Supex to confirm this answer for you. The MK3 version has been around for quite some time and is definitely the model we stock. I was advised you won't be able to find the MK2 model anywhere these days. The difference between the two is the inner pole now comes with 3 straight edges and a curved top so there are no sharp edges against your awning.

roof rafter1 answer
how much curve is in each one
keith - Ulladulla nsw(5 years ago)
G'day Keith,
I have contacted Supex who have confirmed the distance of each Curved Roof Rafter.
Slight- 25-35mm at a 2.4m extension
Acute- 65-75mm at a 2.4m extension
This distance is from the centre point of the rafter to the ground when lying on the ground. I hope this makes sense. Please call our customer support team on 1300 914 007 if you need clarification.
