Dakota 1600 Series 4 1 answer
With the included LED LIGHT can you keep it on the tent rail and fold the tent up while it’s still on it? Thanks
Connor - Hillside, VIC(2 months ago)
G'day Connor,
The LED light is clipped onto the tent rail, you will need to remove the LED light before packing away and folding up the tent.

Roof rack spacing1 answer
What is the maximum spacing between the 2 roof racks for this tent to sit on?
Jay - Campbelltown, NSW (7 months ago)
G'day Jay,
Theres no distance between the roof racks that need to be considered. The rooftop tent has a length of around 160cm which is parallel to the vehicle if you are wanting a side entry set up. so as long as your roof racks fit inside that 160cm length, you should be ok.

Ladder and tent person weight limit1 answer
Does the ladder and tent have a safe weight limit in regards to what they can carry? Like what weight person will the ladder and the part of the tent held up by the ladder hold safely?
Jodie - Cressy, VIC(7 months ago)
G'day Jodie,
Roof top tent ladders have a 150kg limit. The tents themselves dont have a weight limit, that's purely determined by the static roof weight limit of your vehicle. Hope that helps!

Weight capacity in 1600 Rtt1 answer
Hi what is the maximum weight for 1699 RTT for 2 or 3 people.
Andrea - Herston, QLD(9 months ago)
G'day Andrea, The weight capacity of the tent is determined by your vehicle's roof load rating which you can usually find in the vehicle manual or manufacturer's specifications. The tent itself weighs 64kg, so you'll need to factor that in, plus the people in the tent, and the roof racks on your vehicle, and ensure that the dynamic weight load rating of your vehicle can handle that total weight.

waterproof?2 answers
Looking for a new RTT , my previous RTT was not good at keeping the water out. The mattress would absorb the water through the side canvas if it was touching it. What are these like? Hoping that if you touch the sides of the canvas it does not allow water to seep through, not sure if this is a canvas thing or that simply my previous RTT was useless.
Steven - Brisbane City, QLD(2 years ago)
G'day Steven,
These are a seam-sealed waterproofed canvas, so you shouldn't have any issues with leaking, but it actually sounds to me like your issue may have had more to do with condensation - roof top tents are generally quite notorious for this. If that's the case, the Anti-Condensation Mat in the 1600 size will do the trick, and have a listen to our episode on Dealing with Condensation on
Lauren - Snowys(2 years ago)
Thank Lauren, no it wasnt condensation coming up through the floor , my previous RTT not a 23zero brand if it rained and you touch the walls it would come straight through. Thanks

Rhino rack pioneer1 answer
How would I go mounting this onto the pioneer rack, those bars are longitudinal and fixed?
Miles - Sale(3 years ago)
G'day Miles,
The best bet would be to have a look at the installation video on the 23Zero website, outside of this we'd recommend discussing fitting options with your local roof rack or vehicle accessory fitter.

Will I need to purchase a mounting kit separately or does this tent come with everything need to attach to my roof rack?1 answer
I'm hoping to mount it to my Prorack S-wing roof racks
Pete - Somerville(3 years ago)
G'day Pete,
The Dakota comes with a mounting kit, you can find the contents shown in the third image on the product page. The mounts are fairly generic and designed to fit most roof rack systems so we think you should be fine with your Prorack S-wing roof racks.

Maximum installation height1 answer
Hi again guys, What is the maximum height this can be installed. I am assuming that the ladder is really the governing factor, therefore what length can the telescopic ladder extend to?
Michael - Heathmont(3 years ago)
G'day Michael,
The maximum length of the ladder is 230cm, so as long as you don't go higher than that you shouldn't have any worries.

Fitting 2 side by side1 answer
Hi guys, I am building a custom trailer and am looking at fitting these side by side. Can you tell me the minimum dimension required in between the tents. For general access and also hardware for locking the tents down. Cheers
Michael - Heathmone(3 years ago)
G'day Michael,
There's nothing to stop you from mounting two next to each other, as long as your trailer weight rating can handle it. They are 160Wcm, so as long as you've got 10-15cm clearance either side to allow for set up and pack down you should be all ok.

Will this fit onto a wagon?1 answer
Hi I have a premium 2017 Subaru Outback, boxer diesel engine with sunroof. Can your tent be fitted to this type of vehicle? If so would an annex be suitable, i e. Height wise? And who can install?
Jane - GOOD HOPE(3 years ago)
G'day Jane,
It's possible, however, you'd need to confirm the roof load rating and roof rack compatibility with your roof rack supplier or vehicle manufacturer. The annexes are designed to suit a total height of 2.1m but can be adjusted for vehicles from 1720 to 2100mm. In terms of fitting, you'd need to check in your local area, but some mechanics and most vehicle accessory fitters will be able to fit these for you.

Can you store bedding in the Dakota 1600 when it is folded up1 answer
Can you store bedding in the Dakota 1600 when it is folded up? Do you ship to Tasmania? What is the weight capacity of the tent and ladder? Thank you
Darren - Penguin(4 years ago)
G'day Darren,
We generally wouldn't recommend storing your bedding inside the rooftop tent, but you might be able to leave a quilt/sleeping bag in there if it is lightweight and easily compactible. Yes, we ship to Tasmania, the weight capacity of the tent and ladder are determined by your roof load rating. The tent itself weighs 64kg, so you'll need to consider the weight of the tent, the people in the tent, and the roof racks on your vehicle and ensure that the dynamic weight load rating of your vehicle can handle it.

Hi there is there a maximum weight for the 23ZERO 1 answer
Just want to know the maximum weight load for the 23zero Dakota 1600 roof top tent thanks
MICHAEL - DONNYBROOK (4 years ago)
Hi Michael,
The roof and roof rack load ratings need to be considered first and foremost, the tent doesn't have a load rating. These are the weights for which the vehicle and racks are capable of supporting whilst the car is in motion. When the car is stationary these loads can be far more as there are no dynamic forces to consider like those experienced while the car is in motion.
Long story short, your vehicle needs to have a roof load rating to cater for the weight of the tent (64kg) as well as the roof rack and any other accessories and gear you store up there whilst on the highway. The rack needs to be rated to 64kg or more if you are carrying extra gear. If you are within these limits, then you shouldn't have any problems with weight inside the tent whilst stationary.
