With plenty of space to cook all kinds of dishes, the Double Burner Wok Cooker from Companion is a powerful unit that'll have your meal ready in no time.
The benchtop design is strong and reliable, providing a whopping 12,800 BTUs per burner, so you'll be able to have dinner ready quick-smart. It's also spacious so it suits pots, pans, woks and BBQ plates. This cooker has an integrated ignition for easy use and is easy to clean as it has a durable stainless steel surface. It also comes with a 1200mm hose and an LCC27 fitting and regulator included.
The Double Burner Wok Cooker from Companion is a spacious, smart looking and easy to use cooking option for outdoor use.
Does the flame go low for simmering? I already have a powerful wok burner but wany something for normal outdoor cooking where a low flame is used, eg cooking rice. Thanks
G'day Ian,
The Companion Wok Burner is designed for high-heat cooking and wouldn't be suited to simmering with a low flame. Something like the Zempire 2 Burner Deluxe Wide Camp Stove would be better suited as it has micro flame adjustment for full power down to a simmer.
Just bought this stove can you buy an adaptor to fit a POL gas bottle the video shows a POL fitting but the burner came with the LCC27 fitting?
G'day Peter,
POL gas fittings are now superseded with no gas appliances, accessories, or bottles able to be manufactured after May 2022.
There is no POL to LCC27 adapter available, however, there are already a large number of LCC27 bottles in circulation through the Swap and Go gas exchange, so you should be able to get your hands on one pretty easily.
All expired gas bottles from 2021/2022 onwards are legally required to be replaced with LCC27 options, so in the next couple of years we'll likely see POL bottles becoming harder to find.
Does this unit cut the gas if the flame goes out?
G'day Robert,
Unfortunately, this doesn't have a flame failure safety feature so recommend using it in a sheltered area, or in conjunction with a wind shield.
Its stated its certified for outdoor use only. I gotta ask, whats the difference between the use of this stove indoors and a fitted gas cook top in the kitchen situation?
G'day David,
Camping stoves are not subject to the same rigorous testing standards as residential gas stoves/ovens. Gas is not provided by a sealed line, and they are not installed/set up by a qualified gas plumber who can test all connections and the gas supply for leaks. Residential gas stoves burn clean & have negligible carbon monoxide emissions - camping stoves do not, because they don't have to be, and are not required to meet the same toxic emissions standards.
Carbon Monoxide is essentially undetectable, and will kill you before you realise what's happening.
Long story short, if you purchase a gas appliance in Australia that says Outdoor Use only, it's because the Australian Gas Association has tested the product & deemed it unsafe for any other scenario.
Hi. Do I need to buy an additional hose to connect this to the bayonet fitting on my caravan?? If so, what? Thanks
G'day Dana,
Unfortunately due to a change in the Australian Gas Association standards, these are no longer compatible with a caravan gas system.
They must only be used with the provided gas hose. For more information, you can find the product manual as a PDF on the product page.
how wide is the double wok cooker? will it fit in a "Oztrail double camp kitchen with windshield" for example. if not, are there any camp kitchens with windshield it will fit in? thx
G'day Nick,
You can find the dimensions listed online:
71L x 38W x 10.5H cm
Unfortunately, there are no Camp kitchens with a built-in windshield that will accommodate this cooker.
You're best bet is to go with a kitchen or pantry with a flat top, and pick up a compatible windshield seperately.
does it come with a bag? if not can can it be purchased separately? also what keeps the trivets and brass rings from rattling off when travelling? Thanks from a satisfied past costumer.
G'day Nando,
It doesnt come with a bag, however you can find the Double Wok Carry/Storage bag in the You Might Also Like section on the product page.
Depending on how you've stored the cooker in transit, the rings and trivets may come off, but they're easily put back into place.
Wondering how the cooker goes in breezy to windy conditions. Can it hold a flame and how much is its performance affected?
G'day Pat,
The Double Wok Burner packs a real punch and will perform well in fairly breezy/windy conditions, however, if it's very windy we'd recommend investing in a separate windshield to reduce heat loss.
Hi. The dual burner looks great, can a hot plate be used without over heating the stove? Do these have flame out protection ? Cheers
G'day Andrew,
You possibly could use a BBQ plate with the Double Burner Wok Cooker, however it's not something we have tried so can't guarantee it would be a good option, and we don't carry any BBQ plates that would be suitable for a cooker this size.
Unfortunately, this doesn't have a flame failure safety feature so recommend using in a sheltered area or in conjunction with a wind shield.
I need to use on a plastic tabletop. The other units like flamefire are no good as I need a flat open surface for larger pots. Do you have any sort of under heatshield for these or can you recommend one?
G'day Russ,
You'll need to put something underneath the wok burner to reduce heat on a plastic table. There isn't a specific product we'd recommend, as we'd usually recommend a steel or aluminum table. We'd recommend a Heat Mat from a hardware store or BBQ supplier be used under the cooker.
What camp kitchen would this comfortably fit on?
G'day Danielle,
Most of the Camp Kitchens are designed for the smaller style 2 burner stoves, however the Camp Kitchen Deluxe with Sink will suit, you'll just need to leave to windshield off, or leave one end unsecured.
Is the hose length 1200mm or 1000mm In some places in web it says 1000mm else where for this brand. Please could you confirm
G'day Reddy,
I can confirm the hose is 1200mm in length.
How easy is it to clean the stove and specifically the gas jets?
G'day David,
The Double Buner Wok Cooker is fairly easy to clean and can be done with mild soapy water. The jets themselves shouldn't be cleaned with water, if they are blocked then you may need to remove them and purchase new ones.
will it take a 36 cm and a 29 cm wok side by side?
G'day Ian,
The Double Burner Wok Cooker should fit a 36cm and 29cm wok side by side, I've just gone and measured the top think it should work depending on the side slope of both of the woks.
I like to make sure that it suites Australia natural gas.
G'day Rachel,
The Wok burner is designed to run off of LPG or Portable Bottled Gas from a Cylinder. It's not designed and won't run off of the gas mains in Australia.
do the burners lift out to clean
G'day Diane,
While you can't remove the burners within the unit, you can lift out the burner rings that support your pots and pans making it really easy to clean in and around the burners.
can this burner be used indoor and outdoor
G'day Diane,
The Companion Double Burner Wok Cooker is certified for outdoor use only. Page 4 of the User Manual states "this appliance shall only be used in an above-ground open-air situation with natural ventilation" and also shows a few safety diagrams for using the unit in partially enclosed spaces.
Hi. Is this burner able to simmer on low? I noticed that the Hyperflame is not suited to simmer so hoping this is?
G'day Frank,
The Double Burner Wok Cooker is a very high output stove so generally, it is not suitable for simmering.
Can you put any saucepan/fry pan directly onto heat?
G'day Hayley,
The Double Burner Wok Cooker packs a bit of a punch, so while you can out any saucepan/frypan on the heat we'd suggest turning it down low for non-stick style pans, or thinner aluminium pots to avoid your dinner getting stuck!
Re: Double burner wok cooker
G'day Paul,
I've just measured the Double Wok Burner and the smallest diameter pot you could put on it would be 13cm, but you would need to put it down exactly centred.
Is there a stand or table I can purchase that the Wok Cooker will fit on..exclusively for cooking?
G'day Ali,
There isn't a stand that will specifically fit the Double Burner Wok Cooker. We'd recommend popping it on a table with an aluminium top. Maybe the Zempire Slatpac Camp Table, or an Outdoor Connection Fortis Slat Table.
is there a lid to cover the burners during transport?
Not with this burner sorry, Max. The little covers over the burners are loose too, so you need to put them somewhere safe during transport. A bag is a good idea, but they are hard to come across for these burners and we don't currently have anything suitable in our range.
These burners aren't designed to be quite as portable as other camp stoves on the market.
hi does the windshield you sell on this page fit this please
G'day Alex,
The windshield that probably fits around the Companion Double Burner Wok Cooker the best is the Companion Double Camp Stove Wind Shield but I couldn't try it out with a gas hose connected to the rear of the stove and I think this might get in the way. One of the staff here just told me they've actually tried this out and they recommended that you'll need to grab some tin snips and cut a small section of the windshield out to allow the hose to poke through. So it will fit, but you'll need to do a little bit of customising at your own risk.
also does it comes with regulator ie used to plug with lpg gas bottle
G'day Sarbjeet,
The Companion Double Burner Wok Cooker comes with a gas hose to connect to an LPG bottle and this includes a regulator.
Hi, can you recommend a BBQ hot plate which is compatible with the length of this stove?
G'day Joel,
The largest hot plate we've got to fit over stoves is the Campfire 3 Burner Gas Cooker
Butler pantry has a gas connection. it will be used for domestic cooking.
G'day Barua,
The Companion Double Burner Wok Cooker will be fine to use on a stone bench top, but they are explicitly certified for outdoor use on an LPG via a POL fitting. The manufacturer doesn't indicate that they are suitable to use on natural gas. Page 4 of the User Manual has a few safety diagrams for using the unit in partially enclosed spaces.
Is it certified for use in an outdoor commercial situation
G'day Claudia,
I can't find anywhere that Companion mention this unit can't be used commercially, and certainly, I would think a lot of our customers are using these in outdoor commercial cooking situations. Having said that I've given Companion a call and they're saying it's really only sold as a camping stove. Given that we don't sell commercial cooking equipment I'm not really sure if there is a standard certification for this type of thing, you may be best off consulting a gas appliance specialist before making any decisions.
This is wider than most on the market which I love for large pots and frypans. What recommendations would you have for stable, heat proof camp furniture to sit this cooker on?
G'day Jo,
We can recommend the Outdoor Connection Fortis Slat Table or the Oztrail Easy Table 4 Folding table. They're both pretty sturdy and heat-resistant.
Hi what is the largest size pots that could fit side by side on these?
G'day Tracy,
I've just given this a quick whirl with some pots we've got on the shop floor. I'd say that you'd pretty comfortably be able to fit a pair of pots with diameters of about 40cm on the Companion Double Burner Cooker.
Is this unit AGA approved? If so, what's it's AGA approval number?
G'day Matthew,
All of the gas products we sell meet Australian standards including the Companion Double Burner Cooker from Companion. We don't know what the finer details of the testing procedures are, but on the product
For more information on this certification scheme, you can head to their website here. I hope this helps Matthew.
Can you please let me know how hot it gets underneath this stove, wanting to put it on a timber surface. Also I don’t have room at the rear of the unit for the hose to come directly out so can I fit an elbow between stove and hose.
G'day Glen,
A good majority of the heat on a Companion Double Burner Cooker travels upwards. The only issues you might have will be if you have a large pot that directs the heat back down again. As for the right angle adaptor, it's not something that is readily available but if you take it to a gas specialist, you would probably be able to get one made up for you.
Do you have a solid bbq plate that would fit this cooker?
G'day Michael,
Unfortunately, we don't really have a BBQ plate that will perfectly match up with the Companion Double Burner Cooker. The 3 burner plates were almost big enough but didn't quite go all the way to the end of both burners, so you'd lose a fair bit of heat out of the side.
Hi do you have a carry bag that will fit this burner?
G'day Sam,
There's not specifically a carry bag that is made for the Companion Double Burner Cooker, unfortunately. The closest I can find in size is the Large Oztrail Canvas Duffle Bag.
Guys, Recently bought this cooktop from you guys, we realised that the black cast iron Trivet is too wide to put saucepan. Does Companion make it? Do you suggest any solution for that? Thanks
G'day Ronak,
I've checked with the supplier, and there isn't a different sized trivet compatible with the Double Burner Cooker available. We've looked into this, but we can't come up with a safe way to modify or add to this cooker, unfortunately.
Hi, I am planning to build outdoor kichen, but our balcony is a little windy in times... How does this burner works in windy conditions?
Hi Brian,
This particular stove doesn't have any flame protection so on a windy balcony there may be better options that have windshields either as physical outer barriers or built in around the flame. An example of these are the Zempire 2 burner Deluxe stove and the Hyperflame Fyreknight.
Feel free to give us a call if you have further queries.
Have one that works on click on dispospible butane gas can this unit work on the click on or scree in dispospible cans please ..
Hi Deanna,Â
The Companion Double Burner Cooker is not compatible with disposable butane canisters, as it uses a different kind of gas (LPG).Â
We don't have any other models online that are compatible with disposable butane gas canisters, but the Coleman Hyperflame FyreKnight and FyreCadet are compatible with disposable LPG bottles - which isn't the exactly the same, but it's something you might want to take a look at.Â
Does this deal come with hose and regulator connection to gas bottle? If it is, how long is the hose?
G’day Vinny,
I’ve just confirmed with the stock we have downstairs, and the Companion Double Burner Cooker comes with an 8mm hose with a regulator that’s 120cm long and has a POL fitting.
I have an outdoor gas point which I'm thinking of using as a temporary outdoor kitchen whilst our kitchen is renovated. Will this work with the outdoor natural gas point?
