Smart alternator1 answer
If you have a car with a smart alternator then I am advise you cannot use VSR. You’ll have to use a DC to DC charger. Is this correct
Geoff - Roseville, NSW(2 years ago)
G'day Geoff,
Yes, generally this is the case, VSR units won't always work with smart alternators. We'd recommend a DC to DC charger.

smart alternator isolator1 answer
hi. i i need to install isolator for this kit? i have a smart alternator and looking to get a full charge
nattawat - Quinns Rock, WA(2 years ago)
G'day Nattawat,
Sounds like you'll need an isolator and VSR. If you need any more assistance or you're not 100% confident in doing this yourself, please get in touch with your local auto electrician.

Solar and dual battery via Alternator1 answer
Hi, I already have a Hard Korr box and Hard Korr solar panel, i was hoping to now also add in a VSR to the box and set up as a dual battery system. CAn this happen, will I have to make sure only one is plugged in at a time, ?
Joshua - Bowral(3 years ago)
G'day Joshua,
You can use the VSR Kit and the Dual Battery Wiring Kit to set up a dual battery system. You'll have spare Anderson ports to connect your solar panels, however we wouldn't recommend leaving the solar panel cable plugged in for transit - which is when the main battery will charge the battery box via the VSR port. When you're stationary you can leave the dual battery wiring kit plugged in, and then plug in the solar panel cable to charge.

Can I use this kit to run from my aux battery to a 12v control box 1 answer
Aux battery & 12v control box setup in dual cab tub...will be running dual zone fridge, lights & charge phone
Damian - Hawks Nest, NSW(3 years ago)
G'day Damian,
It is possible this could suit your setup, but it's hard to know for sure. They've been designed to connect a main battery to the Hard Korr Battery for use as a dual battery system. It is essentially 8AWG cable with a 50A fuse, and Anderson plug on the end, so it could work for you, however, it might be worth double-checking with your local auto-electrician, as there might be an easier way to connect your system.

Setup guide1 answer
Is their a setup guide to wiring this to my vehicle battery from the battery box in the boot?
Andrew - Kingsville (3 years ago)
G'day Andrew,
There isn't a step by step guide, however, you'll need the dual battery wiring kit and VSR to set this up for charging in your vehicle. The dual battery wiring kit has 6m, of cable, which should reach from the front to the rear of the vehicle depending on your setup. Generally, if you're not overly confident doing this yourself we'd recommend getting an auto-electrician to set it up for you.

Charge a battery box1 answer
Can this be used to charge a projecta powerhub battery box while driving? Does it come with VSR to protect main car battery or do we need to add that?
John - Perth(3 years ago)
G'day John,
If your battery box has an Anderson input then yes you should be able to use this wiring kit to charge your battery box. You'll need a VSR, Hard Korr make them for their own battery boxes, however, it might be possible for you to fit one to your Projecta Battery Box, however, that would be a question for Projecta.

DC-DC1 answer
With this wiring kit do I still need a dc dc charger or is it only from the main battery?
Christian - 2229(4 years ago)
G'day Christian,
If you're wanting to set up a dual battery system then all you'll need is the wiring system, you'll just hook up the cabling to your crank battery, and plug it in via the Anderson plug with the VSR and you'll be good to go. If you're not wanting to set up a dual battery system and just want to charge the battery box via DC then yes you'll need a DCDC charger, but won't need the dual battery wiring kit.
