Insulated, lightweight, and comfortable – the Ether Light XT Insulated Women’s from Sea to Summit is the mat that you won’t have to compromise on.
This design is wider at the hip and narrower at the shoulder for a women’s specific fit and features a layer of thicker THERMOLITE® insulation as well as Exkin Platinum® to reflect radiant heat. The Ether Light XT Insulated has large air pockets made from looped TPU baffles and has a height of 10cm for comfort while you snooze on your side. Deflate and adjust your mat with the multi-functional high flow rate valve, and inflate it easily with the Airstream™ Pump integrated into the stuff sack.
The 30/40D nylon fabric provides a durable and grippy surface to sleep on which can also be repaired in the field with the included adhesive patches. To keep your mat fresh and prevent mould growth, it has an anti-microbial Ultra-Fresh™ treatment. You can also keep an optional Aeros™ pillow from slipping around as there
If you don’t want to sacrifice weight, comfort or insulation on lightweight cooler adventures, the Ether Light XT Insulated Women’s from Sea to Summit is the ultimate sleeping solution.
Have there been any reported issues of condensation between the mat and a sleeping bag in cold climate sleeping?
G'day Petra,
None that we've heard of. Condenstation usually only occurs when there is a significant difference between temperatures. We'd expect that to occur on something like a tent fly where the outside temp will be a lot lower than the internal temp, but that's not something that would generally occur between an insulated mat and body. Your insulated mat and body will largely be maintaining a zone of similar temperature.
Does this come with the sea to summit repair kit? Or any repair items?
G'day,
Yep, they do come with a repair kit, a larger patch and two small ones, which are self-adhesive & will definitely have you covered.
Hi, Should these mats be stored inflated or deflated? Thanks!
G'day Leanne,
These are not a self inflating mattress, and there is no foam inside them, so there are no issues storing these mats rolled up.
Hi there. I can't get to a conclusion on which mat to buy :(. As I will be using on trekking, my key driver is weight. These two seemed to be the best two options, but I can't really get the difference between them, apart from the thickness. What is the down side of the extra thickness? Any guidance will be much appreciated. Thanks.
G'day Patricia,
Ultimately the only difference is thickness. They are both equally as insulative and are made from the same materials.
Whichever one you go with will come down to your own personal preference and what you feel would be more comfortable to sleep on.
There is no downside to a thicker mattress other than a slightly larger pack size and an extra 120g.
If you feel like you can sleep comfortably on 5cm, then go for that one, otherwise get the Ether Light and try and shave grams elsewhere.
The only downside of a thicker mattress is you lose headroom in your tent!
Hi when will these be in stock please and how long would it take to get to Newcastle by post. Ta.
G'day Reveca,
At this point in time, the stock is due to arrive in late June. Delivery to Newcastle generally takes about 3-4 business days once dispatched.
there seems to be a discrepancy for weight of the regular size 168cm women’s mat- can you tell me the weight for the mat only without the stuff sac/ inflation bag ( minimum weight ) and then can you give me the weight with everything please?
G'day Sharon,
We've had one of our team weigh the Women's Regular for you and can confirm the weights are as follows.
Weight of mat with stuff sack/pump sack, and repair kit is 560g.
Weight of mat with stuff sack/pump sack and no repair kit is 540g.
Weight of mat with no stuff sack/pump sack, and no repair kit is 480g.
Hi, If these are 55cm at their largest width (near the top there), what's the smallest width at the base for both the regular and large? I find that my feet fall off the sides of other S2S mats (where the width at the bottom tapers from 51cm down to about 38).
Hi Anna
Sea to Summit were super speedy with their response and have confirmed the Regular is 42cm at the base before the edges curl around the corner, and the Large is 53cm at the same point.
If you think it may be too narrow, you could also take a look at the Regular Wide Rectangle size. This is 64cm wide, top and bottom, however, it doesn't come in the women's specific design.
Thanks
I'm trying to work out which size to go. I'm 172 cm and sleep both side and back.
G'day Pip,
The Regular length is 165cm long, so if you're 172cm then you'll find your feet hang off the end, we'd recommend going for the Long model which is 183cm long and will give you a bit more length to spread out.
I know the Ether Light XT Insulated is designed "with women in mind" but is there any reason a 189 cm, 95kg man shouldn't use it, other than the length. He's a side sleeper so a bit short won't worry him and it seems to have more width than the male version. We want to keep the weight down as much as possible without loosing too much R value/width.
G'day Kay,
No there isn't any reason why a male can't use the women's specific Ether Light XT mat. There is a little extra width through the hips, so as long as he's happy to have his feet hanging off the end then it shouldn't be a problem. If you're in Adelaide it would be well worth popping into the store and having a laydown on the options too.
I am 168cm exactly. Should I get the regular or long sizing?
G'day Josie,
This is a very tricky question, I personally would go for the Regular length as I tend to sleep on my side and curl up a little. If you sleep on your back and tend to stretch out then I would probably suggest going for the long model. It's obviously up to you, but I would personally go for the regular length.
I'm having difficulties deciding between the two. The lighter weight of the Ether Light is appealing, however I'm concerned it'll be noisier and more slippery compared to the new Comfort Plus SI. I'm assuming both are comfortable enough for a side sleeper? Ultimately I would like something that'll give me a good night's sleep.
G'day Durga,
Both are great mats so I can understand your dilemma ;) There's no need to be concerned about the Ether Light being noisy or slippery though, as it's a mat that has been designed to be lightweight, quiet and grippy. Sea to Summit has given particular attention to the shape of this mat by designing it with women in mind and at a generous 10cm thick, there'll be no worries with sleeping on your side. I think the decision might come down to your personal usage requirements, ie camping or hiking/trekking? Plus frequency of use and budget since there is
