When you’re out bush it’s time to get away from the trappings of the city, which includes your morning visit to your favourite coffee shop. But you needn’t forgo good coffee altogether, thanks to the GSI Mini Espresso Coffee Maker.
Made from rugged 18/8 stainless steel, the Mini Expresso won’t mind the rough and tumble of the bottom of the pack. At 233g for most coffee-addicts, it is weight well worth carrying.
Most importantly, in around 90 seconds you can have a delicious espresso coffee. Just the thing to start the day.
Hello, Is the Zempire 2 Burner Deluxe Wide Camp Stove compatible with this coffee maker? Thank you Loralee
G'day Loralee,
Unfortunately, the Espresso Mini Coffee Maker is too small to be used with the above stove, the pot support grate above the burner is too wide.
I want to use this at home and I have an induction cooktop. It is S/Steel. Will it work?
G'day Oscar,
Unfortunately these aren't designed for use on induction due to the being made of stainless steel. Induction needs a magnetic base to work.
Can I use the GSi espresso maker on a jet boil whilst hiking?
You can, Kristen, as long as you have the pot support (https://www.snowys.com.au/stainless-steel-pot-support).
Keep in mind the burner only offers about 4500 BTU, whereas many compact hiking stoves are in the 8000 BTU range. It is designed to be most efficient with the Jetboil pot attached i.e. less gas - more heat.
If you're happy to wait a few extra minutes for your coffee to boil though, then there is no problem with using this on a Jetboil.
Hi there we have a GSI Outdoors Espresso Mini Coffee Maker (4cup) and I was wondering if you have any O rings to fit? Or if you might know where we can get one?
G'day Kirli,
We've managed to get the O rings for the 4 cup espresso maker in the past however my understanding is that they're pretty tricky to come by. Can you please send us an email (you can even reply to this chain) so we've got your details and can chase up the price and availability from our supplier.
Can you recommend a milk frother to go with this?
G'day Sarah,
I've asked around a few of my hiking colleagues to see what they would recommend as a good frother to go with your GSI Outdoors Expresso Mini Coffee Maker. None of them had any great advice on a specific one to look at other than to keep an eye on dimensions to make sure it's nice and small to not take up too much room in your pack. Sorry that I couldn't be much more help than that.
Hey Sarah, I have a Bellman Stovetop Steamer and find it to be the best milk brother I have ever used. Although it may be a little large for hiking, it is perfect for camping or caravanning etc.
Try searching Bellman stove top steamer. There is a few video on you tube
The bellman is great for camping, we love it, and it gives us the coffee from home whilst camping, however for hiking too heavy.
Is there a light weight cup you would recommend that would sit well under the spout as it would need to be smaller than most cups ?
G'day Guy,
I've just checked the cups that we have in store, and it seems that the GSI Outdoors Stainless Double Wall Espresso Cup fits the best under the spout, and weighs only 35g so it should do the trick!
Just curious as it is a gsi hiking gadget whether the stem is removable for transport
G'day David,
I've just had a quick look at the GSI Outdoors Expresso Mini Coffee Maker to see how it packs up. The stem doesn't come out at all but the bottom does come off of the coffee maker and sits underneath the stem, on top of the platform, so it still packs down about as small as possible.
Looking to make a decent coffee on a portable gas canister stovetop.
G'day Sonia,
I've just asked one of our staff members, Tim, who is a coffee connoisseur and avid traveller. He said that you'd have no issues putting a GSI Outdoors Expresso Mini Coffee Maker on a butane stove. He even said that you should expect a really beautiful crema on your coffee with these too!
wanting to confirm coffee to be used in this.
G'day Kirsty,
Yep - that's right. You can use any ground coffee.
Example.trangia
G'day Terry,Â
I've just checked for you, and I've found that you can use the GSI Outdoors Expresso Mini Coffee Maker with basically any compact hiking stove, including a Trangia.Â
Wondering if the base the base of the GSI Espresso Mini is broad enough to sit on top of a MSR Micro Rocket?
