Hi there, looking for something to put under kids monkey bars / swing set in the backyard. The area of the backyard where we’ll set it up is mostly dirt with some very patchy grass. Needs to allow pegs to go through. Would this be suitable or would you recommend anything else?
G'day Lauren,
Yes this could work for that purpose nice and soft on the feet and will allow the ground to breathe underneath. You can also easily put pegs through the mat, this just hasn't been tested for more permanent setups, although durable not sure how it will hold up over time outside.
Hi, will this matting be good for car awning flooring on a beach or used as a picnic blanket, or would too much sand get through?
We've not personally tried it out at the beach, Cam, but some customer have left reviews saying it performed really well in those situations.
It probably won't give you the same level of protection like the higher-end double layered mats will, but it's still going to be an awesome option.
It's also nice and soft underfoot, so I'm sure you wont be disappointed.
Could this also be used as a tent floor protector? I have one of these for my caravan annex but just bought a little Coleman instant up for a quick overnight trip and thought this might do the job also.
G'day Heidi,
Yes, absolutely, the Annex Floor Matting can be used under a tent to help protect the tent floor, and provide a little bit of cushioning underfoot.
will this stop moisture build up on the bottom of the tent
G'day Tania,
It's a great idea to have matting underneath your tent to prevent the moisture from reaching the floor. Matting also provides protection for the base of the tent from sticks and stones etc - as its cheaper to replace this, than the floor of the tent!
Eagle camper van with jayco annex
G'day Tegan,
The Caravan Annex Floor Matting will suit most annexes depending on the size. Unfortunately I don't have a Jayco camper can to check for you, but if you measure out your annex and choose the best size you should be fine!
Great product but PVC's durability is also its downfall environmentally speaking – it's not biodegradable or degradable. ... It's often reported that no other plastic presents such a direct environmental and human health threat as PVC does throughout its lifecycle; from manufacture to use to disposal.
G'day Sandy,
Thanks so much for your question. In this instance the product is considered environmentally friendly as, unlike other forms of annex matting, this particular mat doesn't kill the grass. The mat patterning allows good airflow allowing the ground underneath to breath. One of our most common questions from customers is how to reduce the damage to grass when theyre camping, hence our highlight of the fact that this one is a great option for that.
What's better as a ground sheet on top of patchy grass (mostly dust/dirt)? Is Ultramesh more flimsy? Would Ultramesh need to be staked down?
G'day Tai,
The Caravan Annex Floor Matting is a PVC foam mesh so tents to be a little bit squishy and comfortable underfoot. The Ultramesh Tarp is a shade cloth style Polyethene material with bias around the outside and eyelets to peg it down. I would say if you're using it on patchy grass in the awning of a caravan the Annex Floor might be the best option. If you're putting it under a tent, we'd say the Ultramesh is probably the best option.
Is this ok for an internal tent floor (I have a turbo 300 lite plus) to protect from the legs of the stretchers? Or is there a more suitable product?
G'day Virginia,
Yes, you could use the Foam Annex Mating inside your tent to protect the floor from your stretcher legs. We'd say this is the easiest, and most compact option available.
Looking for the heavier weighted matting
G'day Anita,
Thanks for your enquiry! I've just called SUPEX and they have confirmed they work on linear meterage so 1 linear meter weighs 1.5kgs. From there, they worked out the weight of the SUPEX Foam Annex Matting is 600gsm.
Could you put eyelets in yourself?
G'day Simon,
The Supex Foam Annex Matting doesn't come with any eyelets in it, but you could theoretically add your own. The material might not hold the eyelets very well so you might need some canvas or cotton drill fabric to reinforce the area you add the eyelet in to.
