The good people at Trangia have come up with a nifty way of transporting your fuel, meet their Multi Fuel Bottle.
Made using genius Swedish engineering, the polyethylene multi-fuel bottle has a safety valve for safe, controlled fuel outflow and is suitable for alcohol, kerosene and gasoline fuels.
This genuine Trangia Multi-Fuel Bottle will pair perfectly with your existing Trangia Stove for your next big adventure.
Hi do you ever stock the 300 ml version?
G'day Jimmy,
At the moment we only stock the 500mL and 1L, there is the small MSR Fuel Bottle that holds about 325mL, it just doesn't have the same lid as the Trangia version.
Do these have to be stored upright?
G'day Melaine,
Yep, ideally they do.
Trangia has the following information on their website:
"The fuel bottle is best transported in an upright position, such as in the side pocket of a backpack"
Can you please provide the size of the 1litre bottle internal opening. I want to decide if I can refill it from a 4 litre Metho container without using a funnel. I’m currently able to refill a one litre Metho bottle without using a funnel. I asked by email but thought asking here might be faster
G'day Rohan,
The Trangia Multifuel bottles have a 2.5cm diameter mouth, regardless of size.
Hope that helps.
Would you be able to fill the fuel bottle directly with the servo’s petrol nozzle?
G'day Marilu,
I've just had a look at the Multi-Fuel Bottle for you and no we don't think a servo petrol nozzle will fit into the bottle sorry.
I need a bottle for extra petrol for when I go on ling motorcycle rides, would this be safe for that?
G'day Joey,
The Trangia Fuel Bottle for Metho probably won't be the best option for carrying petrol. The MSR Fuel Bottle will be a better option and complies with regulations for all flammable liquids.
I want to order a coleman sportster stove and need a safe storage option for fuel thanks
I would stick to metho with these bottles Tony. the MSR bottles are suitable for Shellite, check them out here.
I've used one for shellite for my Coleman dual fuel stove for years. No problems.
For all fuel uses with these bottles, check the list on the Trangia website. There is a comprehensive list , including Australian Fuels. Could it be on this website too
Thanks Bruce, we'll chase down that list and get it up on our website. Cheers :)
The Trangia bottle itself clearly states it is a "multi-fuel bottle".
Boil water & fry breakfast ? Or able to do breakfast and dinner before needing to refill?
Mi Michelle, there isn't an exact answer here unfortunately, it's very dependant on what your cooking and the environment you are cooking in, there is a lot of trial and error when you get started, but I can give you some pointers to get going. The burner holds roughly 90ml, but it's probably more important to work out how much fuel you need for each meal and dispensing the fuel as you need it, it is best practice to transport fuel in the bottle rather than the burner. You can assume roughly 50ml of metho will boil 1 litre of water, and this will take approximately 10 minutes. Working backwards you can assume that 50ml of fuel gives you 10 minutes of cooking time. I would aim for 150 200ml of fuel per day as a minimum plus extra as a buffer for starters, record your usage and adjust accordingly on your next trip. So to answer your question, a 500ml bottle could cover you anywhere from 3 - 5 days depending on what you are cooking. It can be helpful to read up on other hikers experiences, the Bushwalk Australia forum is a great place for information, and do a few trial cooks at home to measure how much fuel is used to cook the meals you plan on taking. I hope this helps.
Do you sell the 300ml bottle as well, or just the 500ml and 1L?
G'day Josh,
I've just checked for you, and we don't actually sell the 300ml Trangia Fuel Bottle. If you're after something of a similar size, we do have the MSR Fuel Bottle in the 325ml size - but it doesn't have the same valve as the Trangia.Â
