MSR has come up with a terrific way to easily transport your fuel. Made using savvy MSR brainpower, the lightweight Aluminium multi-fuel bottle is designed to use the threads on MSR fuel pumps and easily handle the pressurisation you need to easily operate MSR liquid fuel stove.
This genuine MSR Multi-Fuel Bottle will pair perfectly with your existing MSR liquid fuel stove for your next big trek.
The large size is listed as ~887ml. When carrying petrol, does this figure include the air gap to allow for expansion, or is the air gap on top of the 887ml?
G'day Riley,
The ml capacity stated on each bottle is up to the fill mark indicated on the bottle, below the neck taper.
Hope that helps.
Want to carry motorcycle oil in bottle
G'day Jane,
MSR only specify that these are suitable for liquid-based fuels, but doesn't specify anything about motorcycle oil. I'm not sure I'd be keen to recommend it, so I think your best option would be to grab a Motorcycle Oil Bottle from an auto-parts supplier.
Want to buy a small stove for hunting trips to heat food, looking at buying the Trangia spirit stove.
G'day mate,
Yes you can use the MSR Bottles for methylated spirits however Trangia also has their own bottle which we stock and would be perfect for your needs. They are available in 500ml and 1Ltr. Cheers :)
MSR specific advice: "alcohol will damage MSR Fuel Bottles". Methylated spirits is chemically very close to Ethanol (alcohol). Also, about petrol/gasoline, in some parts of the world: "what you buy at the pump might have upwards of 25% ethanol mixed in. Ethanol is an alcohol; in low percentage mixtures it may not make a big difference in how your stove burns, but it can cause pitting corrosion in aluminum fuel bottles. If you do use gasoline with ethanol, don’t leave it in your fuel bottle for long-term storage"
For use on a motorcycle
G'day Mark,
Yes, you can use the MSR Fuel Bottle for regular unleaded petrol.
i just bought a 360 from you then realised I need a gas bottle too. Pls dont laugh at me, its been a long week...
The thread is the same, Peter, which means the Furno stove will work on an MSR fuel bottle. The MSR fuel is just a little more expensive than some and is a slightly more efficient mix (80 isobutane/20propane), but the average user is going to notice much difference between these and the less expensive 70/30 mix bottles.
Any recommendation for a bottle to go with the furno stove?
G'day Peter,
Just to be clear, I think Ben had assumed this question was regarding the MSR propane cartridges, not the fuel bottles. These bottles are designed for holding petrol or kerosene and are only designed to be used with the MSR fuel stoves like the Whisperlite International Multi-Fuel Stove. So the bottle this question relates to, won't fit your stove. Your 360 Furno stoves uses a small disposable propane cartridge for fuel rather than a refillable bottle. These are available from plenty of brands but unfortunately, as they come prefilled we are unable to ship them. You should be able to find them at any good camping store. Brands that we sell instore include MSR and Jetboil and Companion Brands, but there are probably loads of others out there as well.
HI How long until you get more MSR fuel bottle small back in to stock
G'day Ian,

You'll have no worries at all using your MSR Fuel Bottle for petrol.
