If you want to add the option of fuel versatility to your existing Trangia Stove, then the Gas Burner is what you need.
This burner fits right onto the lower windshield of the 25 and 27 stoves in place of the traditional spirit burner. Weighing just 160g, this burner also comes with a cover for storage and transport.
The Trangia Gas Burner designed to be easy to control, and highly efficient so you can cook your meals on your minimal expeditions without a fuss.
Hi there, is this alternative noisy? Is it similar to jetboil noise level but not as loud as the multi gas option from msr?
G'day Lexi,
We've not really had any feedback about the noise level on the Trangia Gas Burner. At this point in time we don't have an active display model to try this out, however in general this style of burner should be overly loud, and should sit around the same noise level as the jetboil.
Hi Snowys Just to clarify - are Jetboil canisters able to be used and are they the most efficient fuel type for the Trangia gas attachment? Thanks Margot
G'day Margot,
Yes, you can use Jetboil canisters with the Trangia Gas Burner Accessory. You can use any canister with the screw thread Lindal valve. The Jetboil and MSR Canisters tend to be the more efficient options due to the ratio of butane/isobutane to propane.
can I run this with the el cheapo Bunnings butane cannisters (comes in 3 or 4 pack for $10)?
G'day Brendan,
No, you cannot run a Trangia from Butane cartridges.
The Gas Burner option is compatible with Isobutane/Propane hiking gas canisters with a Lindal valve. They're available in almost any camping and outdoor shop, are super lightweight and alot more efficient and reliable compared to the ones you are talking about.
Hi, Is it possible to pack the gas conversion kit into the Trangia 27-7 ULHA for transport?
G'day Sam,
Yes, you can, it will fit inside the unit in the same way the spirit burner normally would. You'd likely need to carry the gas canister itself separately though, depending on which bottle you go for.
Hey there, what canister/gas type do I need to purchase for this? Is it the butane ones found in most camping stores or something more specialised.
G'day Tania,
The Trangia Gas Burner attaches to a standard hike style butane gas canister with a Lindal valve. There are a few different brands available however as long as they're the style with a screw-in thread then you'll be fine.
Firebox stove
G'day Francis,
The Trangia Gas Burner is explicitly designed for use with the Trangia units, so there wouldn't be a way to ensure the unit is safe and stable inside a Firebox, so it's not something we'd suggest.
The AGA Approval Directory shows the burner has an approval number. The AGA requires camping and leisure appliances to have the green label affixed. Does Snowy's supply the burners with a certificate affixed?
G'day Bill,
Yes, it is a requirement that all Gas products have the AgA approval. I can confirm that the Trangia Gas Burners we sell have the appropriate tags attached.
Hello again, you mention in one of your a's to a q that the little black knob gives a reliable burner control. I fear you may have mistaken the screw in gas connector for the clip on "mortein" style canister. Certainly what is pictured is the mortein canister connector. The usual canister for upright stoves like the furno, the windmaster etc is the one in which I'm interested. Have you got the picture wrong?
G'day Robert,
I'm not entirely sure I understand your question, as I have no idea what a Mortein style canister is (other than the bug spray?). The gas conversion kit is designed to attach to screw style butane/isobutane canisters that are the same as the furno stove you reference. The current image work in the current design with a flat disc style attachment and a gold flame adjuster. The previous reference to black handle was on the older version that had a slightly different design.
I would like to know if the flame can be varied from boiling down to a low simmer. Is that the intention of the black plastic tap on top of the gas cylinder attachment?
G'day Chris,
How does the non stick pots cope with gas burner
G'day Peter,
I've never had a problem using non-stick pots and pans on my gas burner, just make sure you use utensils that won't damage the non-stick finish and you should be fine.
What gas canister does this work with?
G'day Paul
It will work with any of the standard screw type isobutane/propane canisters, such as the ones from Jetboil, MSR or Kovea. We don't have them listed online as we are unable to ship them.
