Tent bag1 answer
Is the bag that comes with the tent also waterproof or am I best to pack it in a dry sack when it’s on my motorcycle?
Greg - Toronto, NSW(8 months ago)
G'day Greg,
I believe it's made from water resistant fabric, but it's not fully seam sealed or waterproof. It may be ok in brief light rain, but anything more than that (especially on a motorbike where rain hits at force) I'd be looking at popping it in a dry sack.

Trail weight2 answers
Hi, what does it weigh without the Pegs? Wondering if I can get the weight down. Thanks
Tom - Frankston, VIC(3 years ago)
G'day Tom,
The weight of the Howqua 2 without pegs is 2.45 kg. Bare in mind that this is not a free-standing tent option, so must be fully pegged out in order to be set up.
Lauren - Snowys(3 years ago)
Thanks Lauren. I got 2.5kg with supplied pegs/poles (which are lightweight alloy) but a smaller and lighter stuff sack. Perfect compromise between weight and comfort for a hike!

Does the Helinox Cot one fit in 2 answers
Does the Helinox Cot One fit in the Howqua 2 man version ? And is there enough room that your head or the foot of your sleeping bag doesn't the end of the tent
Craig - Sydney (3 years ago)
G'day Craig,
Unfortunately, we don't have display models of these items to give it a physical try for you. I think you'll most likely be ok in Cot One if it's just you in the tent given that the Cot is fairly low to the ground. It's hard to be completely sure, but we think it should be ok.
Leece - Snowys(3 years ago)
There's a video on YouTube which shows the cot one fitting inside but you need to put it in back end first

How many pegs needed to erect tent? 3 answers
How many pegs minimum needed and how many if all needed? Also do you recommend I order the 6 x red half sized mini pegs as well or included pegs just as good? Thanks.
Aroha - Bellevue WA(4 years ago)
G'day Aroha,
The absolute minimum number of pegs you'll be able to use is 10 pegs, however, we'd recommend you use all available peg points to ensure that the tent is stable and secure. I'm not too sure which pegs you're referring to, but based on the colour I'm assuming you might be looking at the MSR Mini Groundhog Tent Stakes? If so, then you could replace all of the pegs with these, or use the pegs supplied with the tent, or a combination of the two. It's really up to you, and the main terrain you'll pitch the tent in.
Leece - Snowys(4 years ago)
I would like to update this answer on the number of pegs as i feel the information given is not accurate. The absolute minimum number of pegs would be 4 if you dont use the fly. And 6 if you use the fly and double up the 4 corner pegs for the fly and the tent.
Steve - Hoppers Crossing, VIC(3 years ago)
G'day Steve,
We'll always recommend using the fly on a tent to ensure it is weatherproof, secure and stable. You could double up the pegs on the corners as you've indicated and run with 6, but you wouldn't be setting yourself up for good water-shedding from the fly and may find that the fly allows some water-pooling.

Set-up2 answers
Is this an easy set-up and also compact to put in my storage bags on my adventure bike. I need compact & light weight which is a must or can you recommend something else.
Mandy - Maryland(4 years ago)
G'day Mandy,
Yes, the Howqua 2 Hiking Tent is a compact lightweight tent that is relatively easy to set up. It is relatively lightweight for a 2 person tent, and should give you plenty of space to sleep. The Blackwolf Mantis UL II is a good direct comparison for this tent. One thing to note is that this style of tent isn't freestanding, so you'll need lots of places to peg out the tent, which can sometimes we tricky depending on the terrain. If you can afford the extra 500g or so in weight, it might be worth looking at some of the freestanding options available, that can be put up with fewer pegs.

Hi Mandy, have a look at the Australian Biker Bits you tube channel. You'll see an in depth video of Mark with this tent & the larger Howqua 3 being used for adventure motorcycle travel & set up etc. It will answer any of your questions.
