placement on sand1 answer
How does the thunderbox go placed on softer soils like sand? Does it sink into to ground because of the "thin" base?
Tom - Mill Park, VIC (1 year ago)
G'day Tom,
We've used ours on a range of different surfaces with no issues. If you're on loose sand, its always a good idea to just crap back and level out that super loose dry top layer, but we haven't had any issues with it sinking into the ground persay. Its got a rolled tin edge, not a sharp tin edge, so whilst it may sink a touch, it isn't going to sink too far. Hope that helps.

What is the difference between this one and the Kookaburra 1 answer
Hi, can you tell me What is the difference between this one and the Kookaburra ?
Chris - Yeppoon (4 years ago)
G'day Chris,
Essentially these are the same in terms of dimensions and comfort. The main differences are the MDF lid for the Thunderbox and its also made in Australia whereas the Kookaburra has a plastic lid. Other than that they fold and store and function the same, so I guess it comes down to personal preference.

Inviro bags1 answer
When will you be stocking the inviro bags that are used in conjunction with for this product? When do you expect the Thunderbox will be back in stock?
Gary - Carnegie(6 years ago)
Hi Gary,
I'd estimate about 2 weeks before our next delivery sorry Gary, the supplier can take some time to ship the product to us. I have notified our purchasing department about your request for the Inviro-Bags, they will try and get these bags with our next delivery too.
Sorry about the delay here.

Usage with bucket1 answer
In the description there is mention that bags or bucket can be used. I gather with a bucket (used by a female) your biodegradable bags would fit?
Also is the thunder box easy to clean on the inside?
Emmy - Melbourne(7 years ago)
Hi Emmy,Â
This toilet is designed primarily to sit over a hole in the ground. The In-viro degradable toilet bags mentioned in the description (which we don't stock at this time) are used to line the inside to keep it clean – the brand recommends that you cut a hole out of the bottom of the bag and place it inside– which you can read about in detail here.
The second method is to use a bag on top of a bucket and then put it under the Thunderbox. As far as I can find, this toilet isn’t designed to be used with just a bag attached to catch waste, so I apologise if the description is confusing. We do sell the Elemental brand biodegradable bags which are designed to fit over a bucket here.
As for cleaning, the manufacturer recommends that you use water and a stiff brush if it does get dirty.Â

So the dissposable bags fit into this1 answer
how do myou attach bags to collect the mess
what weight can it support
Keith - PORT MACQUARIE(9 years ago)
Hi Keith, these are best used over a hole in the ground, but you can put bags inside. The biodegradable liners we can get are not big enough for these toilets, we recommend purchasing large biodegradable bin liners from a supermarket large enough to fit over a 40 x 40cm box.
