Will two of these fit in an Oztrail Tourer 9?
G'day Tony,
We don't currently have a Tourer 9 on display, but we've previously looked at tent wall angles before and know that at stretcher bed height you loose 35cm of floor space.
Based on those calculations, the actual available space within the Tourer 9 at stretcher height is 190cm x 190cm, which mean you wont fit them in I'm afraid!
I would need to carry these on my roofrack. Is the storage bag waterproof?
G'day Neil,
No, the carry bag isn't waterproof. If you're needing it to be waterproof we'd recommend putting it inside a PVC roof carry bag/box.
Hi, we are looking to buy 2 x Oztent King Goanna stretchers, Will both fit into one if the two rooms of the 10P? Looks like it will be a tight fit?
G'day Kobus,
Yes, you can fit 2 x King Goanna Stretchers in the 10P Gold, however, they'll only fit across the width of the tent due to the slope of the end walls.
I have the Outwell Dreamboat 16 mat, which is 83cm wide, which looks to be just slightly wider than the sleeping area listed for this stretcher. However, the mat is 16cm thick, so I am *hoping* that any upturn at the edges/sag in the middle would be negated by that. What do you think? I know that the Easy Fold Jumbo has a bit more space (and is cheaper, too) but the King Goanna is just so much more attractive! I'd rather have this one, if I can make it work. P.S. If you have noticed my question on a different bedding item, with description of a totally different setup, that is because I have a fairweather tent which is a beautiful, roomy cabin-style one, so I have a larger bed in that, and a poor-weather tent, which is much smaller, better waterproof & more aerodynamic, so I have a separate, more humble sleeping setup for that one. :-)
G'day Pamela,
Without being able to try this I can only give an assumption, however, I would think your weight would sink down nicely into the mattress and stretcher. The sides would turn up at the point where they meet the side rails. On a larger stretcher, I would imagine you would not get as much upturning of the sides due to the mattress being within the confines of these rails. Both mattresses would work but it would depend on how much sleeping space you are willing to forgo due to the upturned sides!
Hi, just wondering if this would fit exped megamat 10 fine or would there be some overlay? Also if we could fit 2 stretchers comfortably in an Rv4. Cheers
G'day Eric,
Yes, an Exped Megamat 10LXW will fit nicely on the Kind Goanna Stretcher. You might find that you struggle to fit the stretchers in the RV4, so we'd suggest stepping up to the RV5 size to ensure your stretchers will fit with plenty of room.
Can I fit two of these king goanna stretchers in a Coleman 4p lighted darkroom tent?
You can, Jonathon but it will be tight. The best example I can give you is in this video where we place a double high queen airbed in the 4P Lighted Darkroom tent from Coleman, thee the video at about 7:20.
The airbed in the video is 50cm high, about 200cm long and 150cm in width. The King Goanna stretchers are about the same height but a little longer so they will push on the sides of the tent, and at 90cm in width each, or 180cm total, you can see that you just have enough space to shuffle in between them.
Are the Oztent swag and king Goanna Stretcher computable
G'day Ron,
The Oztent RS-1 Swag is a little too wide to fit on the King Goanna Stretcher. The RS-1S King Single Stretcher has been designed specifically to work with the RS-1 swag, so we'd recommend that.
Hi, The Oztent site says the width of the stretcher is 90cm while your site says its 80cm. I have a Darche Dusk til Dawn 900 swag that overhangs my current stretcher (80cm wide) and I cant tension the swag because of the overhang. A 90cm stretcher would seem the right fit.
G'day Sev,
The stretcher itself in 80cm wide. The 90cm refers to the end poles, that have have extra length for ease of clipping them in when the stretcher is under tension. Try the OZtent RS-1 Stretcher or the Darche XL 100 Stretcher, both are designed to be used with swags.
Are replacement bags available?
G'day Josh,
Although we don't sell replacement bags for the Oztent King Goanna Stretcher Bed, we may be able to arrange a special order for you. Please email our customer support team at service@snowys.com.au with your enquiry and we'll follow up with our purchasing team and get back to you :)
Hi there, Would these be ok in a Black Wolf 450 without additional protection under the legs? Won't damage the floor? Many thanks
G'day Tarynn,
Provided that you've got a nice clear camping space, free to twigs, stones etc. then I can't see any reason why you'd need to worry about the feet of the Oztent King Goanna Stretcher doing damage to the floor of your tent. If you did have a bit of a rough ground though, then I'd probably recommend a ground sheet for your tent.
What air mattress would you suggest be the best fit for this stretcher
G'day Trent,
As long as the mat is under 210cm long and 80cm wide then it will fit nicely on top of the King Goanna stretcher.
There are heaps of different options available in our range, so if you want some help narrowing it down to what's going to suit you, it might be best getting on the blower and giving our customer support team a call on 1300 914 007.
Is there much ventilation through the fabric or is the padding very thick/ impassable for ventilation?
G'day Kay,
The fabric on the Oztent King Goanna Stretcher isn't removable so any washing would need to be by lightly sponging spot stains etc. The padding is designed to improve the insulation value of the stretcher so won't allow much, if any ventilation through the fabric.
What width self inflating mat will fit the best on this stretcher?
G'day Brad,
The King Goanna Stretcher is a nice solid, wide stretcher. Any self-inflating mat that's less than 80cm wide will fit on it perfectly. Once you start getting over the 80cm mark, you're going to start hanging over the edge and that's probably not going to be ideal. Most of our single self-inflating mats will suit your needs, so feel free to go for the one you find most comfortable to lie on.
We have noticed in store that the King Goanna Stretcher has some longways movement. Have you had any experience with the Black Wolf turbo bed which appears to have a different setup of legs underneath which look like they may address this issue.
G'day Helen,
We haven't stocked the Black Wolf Turbo Bed so there isn't much feedback I can offer - sorry. It appears according to Black Wolf's website that it's a discontinued product.
If your concern is over stability, can I recommend the Oztrail Easy Fold Stretcher available here (also available in Jumbo and Queen sizing). The Easy Fold Stretcher uses body weight on the stretcher to stabilise its movement. On top of this, the stretcher is one complete piece making set up and pack down really easy. It's by far our most popular stretcher.
So I need a stretcher to suit, if you have anything.
Hi Don,Â
We're not familiar with a Kings Horizon double as it's not a brand that we stock, but I can tell you that the biggest stretchers we have are the Zempire Twin Speedy Stretcher Bed which is 193L x 132W x 47H cm, and the Oztrail Easy Fold Queen Stretcher which is 200L x 144W x 42H cm.Â
Those may suit, but I would suggest cracking out a tape measure or looking for the details on the packaging of your swag, as that will help narrow it down.Â
I have a swag bought from your company.
G'day Don,Â
The King Goanna Stretcher is 80cm wide, so it's definitely not going to fit a double-sized swag. It may fit a king single, but it's really going to depend on the model. I'd suggest having a look at the specs of your swag on our website, and comparing it to this stretcher to see if it's a good fit.Â
A popular stretcher that goes well with a swag is the Outdoor Connection Sundowner Titan Camp Stretcher, as it's extra wide and long -Â which makes a great combo with a swag!Â
How much gap would there be in the middle if you were to join two stretchers together to make a double/queen?
G'day Bianca,Â
I've just had a look at our display King Goanna Stretcher, and the ends of the pole on either end of the stretcher do stick out 8cm (which you can get an idea of in the second image linked on the product page).
If you were to put two together there would be a significant gap of about 16cm, so they're probably not the best model to do this with.Â
Hi, do these have any storage pockets attached to hold phone/torch/keys etc?
G'day Bianca,
There are no storage pockets or pouches of any kind on this stretcher, it sounds like it would be a good idea though!Â
will two of these fit in one end of the black wolf turbo twin 300? would therese be better then a darche mattress? i'm debating on these vs the darche mattress or darche mattress on top of these?!?!
 G’day Emma,
From comparing the dimensions of the tow, it seems that you could fit two King Goanna stretchers in the Turbo Twin 300- but you’d have to fit it in across each room rather than lengthways, because of the slope of the rooms.
And as for the mat vs stretcher decision, mats provide cushioning and insulation, whereas the stretcher gives you height which some people find more comfortable as it’s more like sleeping on a bed at home.
If you’d rather save on the space, and you’re not bothered by sleeping low to the ground then a mat on its own would be fine.
But if you prefer to sleep off the ground then a combo of the two may be the best option – it all comes down to personal preference really.
Hi, does this stretcher fit front to back in a RV3 tent or would you recommend another stretcher?
G’day Mias, the King Goanna stretcher is 210cm long and 80cm wide, and the floor dimensions of the RV3 are 2m long and 2.4m wide so you wouldn’t be able to use it front to back. If you were to use this stretcher from side to side you would be able to fit it in the RV3 but the slope at the back of the tent may make it feel cramped. The Gecko Stretcher from Oztent (Snowys code:39538) is a little bit smaller at 190cm long so it will just squeeze in front to back in the tent - it’s also at a lower height which will accommodate the slope of the RV3 a bit better.
G’day Noel, I’ve just examined the King Goanna Stretcher in store, and it has plastic coverings on the end of each legs which will prevent any punctures on any tent floor. In general Oztent use heavy duty PVC for their floors (RV and Jet Tent ranges) which is a durable material - so you will not damage the floor of the tent if you use the King Goanna Strecher in your tent.
I bought some rubber 50mm round disc from clark rubber at $3.95 each to put under each leg. Works a treat and with a lip around the edge of disc the stretcher legs won't slip off.
Currently tossing up between an RV5, an F25 and a 2.4 Black Wolf Turbo.
Hi Russ, you’ll fit two King Goanna stretchers in all of these tents, we’ve tried them all in-store…the main consideration here is liveability. The Black Wolf Turbo 240 and Oztent Jet Tent F25 are similar in their configuration with the Jet Tent offering more space. The Oztent RV5 is a different beast in that it only really has standing space at the doorway, but offers more benefits if you would like to add extra rooms or attach it to a 4WD awning. Our recommendation is that for families the configuration on the Turbo or Jet Tent are preferable, whilst touring couples may prefer the simplicity and speed of the Oztent RV Tents.
Can a King goanna stretcher can fit in an oztent rv5 (if I order two or three) thanks tim
Hi Tim, you can fit 2 x King Goanna Stretchers into the RV5 I recommend running them from side-to-side in the tent. If they run front-to-back you will find the stretcher just touches the back wall of the tent. The Gecko Stretcher will avoid this (it's shorter.) If you really want to fit 3 stretchers side by side then the Goanna Stretcher is the way to go.
Hi Snowy's we use two Black Wolf Mega Deluxe Sleeping mats which Velcro together and are super comfy. However I would like to be off the ground (getting too old!) could we have two King Goanna Stretchers with the mats on the top?? Our tent is Black Wolf 300 Lite and we use the screen room most trips.
how high are these once assembled?
I have recently purchase 2 of these and have noticed a fair bit of movement length ways in the stretcher ie movement in the legs - is this normal? They have been set up correctly also, thanks.
Hi can you get good night's sleep without adding any matress I am 105kg 6ft tall thank you
Does this stretcher easy to erect? Does it fold down into itself without having to detach the top skin?
I have used stretchers that require a fair amount of effort to put the end bar on - are these like that? Could a child put it up? Dodgy back so looking for something quick and easy to put together without using force/too much bending!! Thanks
How best to pack away the goanna stretcher?Seems too bulky the way we're doing it Thanks.
Hi can you tell me what stretcher i need to buy for my husband who is thinking of putting his swag on top for sleeping. Would it be a king goanna or something else
Will they roll into each other ? Is there a bar down the middle of the stretcher ?
