Replacement for old swag1 answer
G’day I’ve got an old traditional parcel style swag and the old mattress is starting to bottom out looking for a replacement for it. Curious to know if you guys would recommend this type of mattress. is it best if I roll the swag up with it inflated all the time and stored inflated or do I need to let it inflate and deflate every time I use it seems tedious and not what I’m looking for any help would be appreciated. Cheers
Koda - Clare, SA (11 months ago)
G'day Koda,
Lots of folks these days will put a self inflating mat in their swag, as they can generally get a lot more comfort, and roll their swags a little smaller. The only way you'll be able to roll this up is when the mat is deflated, so if you're looking for an easy option without the inflation/deflation this might not be the best option for you. You'd probably be best off with a Darche Swag mattress if you're not too keen on the extra faff!

Side sleeper…1 answer
Do you think this mattress will suit a side sleeper? Trying to avoid feeling my hip on the floor!
Natasha - Hardys Bay, NSW(1 year ago)
G'day Natasha,
Generally, side sleepers will need abit of extra firmness generally. This sleeping mat, aswell as other self inflating versions, can have extra air added into them to increase firmness. You can ultimately tailor the firmness of the mat this way which should give you the perfect balance for side sleeping. Obviously, there is also the element of individual people and overall size. If you tend on the larger or heavier side, it may be worth looking at a thick 15cm mattress.

Comfortable on the ground ?1 answer
Is this mat comfortable enough on the ground, or do you recommend use with a stretcher ?
Daniel - Cairns, QLD(1 year ago)
G'day Daniel,
Any self-inflating mat is more than fine to be used on the ground. Stretchers are great for mobility issues & some people feel they add a bit of extra luxury to camping, but they also tend to be bulky and heavy, so they're definitely not a requirement. Even though Darche haven't done any R-Value testing on these mats, we do think they would be similar to some close alternatives, which suggest these mats do provide good insulation for winter camping. You can always see how you go & pick up a stretcher down the line but if you are thinking you'd like to use a double stretcher consider getting two singles that you can couple together, as a queen/double mattress on a queen/double stretcher isn't always a great option.

Darche KOZI vs. Blackwolf Hexatherm 10cm vs. Zempire Monstamat1 answer
I own both the Blackwolf Hexatherm 10cm mattress and the Zempire Monstamat. I find they have very comparable firmness once fully inflated, both needing some extra air to be pumped in to suit my comfort level. Now seeing this new product range with much more competitive price and also a true queen size, I wonder how the Darche KOZI mat compares with the other two, in terms of firmness?
Lin - Avondale Heights, VIC(2 years ago)
G'day Lin,
Whilst the Kozi Queen is a much wider mat, it's still comparable to a residential double bed in size. In terms of comfort it's hard to give an exact comparison as it depends on the individual, but I personally find the Kozi Mattress to have a harder foam, and feel more similar to the older style PVC covered 4WD mats. Hope that helps abit!

R Rating?1 answer
Does the mat have an R Rating?
Kevin - Byford, WA(2 years ago)
G'day Kevin,
Sorry for the delay in getting back to you on this one, we've chased up Darche for this info. Unfortunately, they've opted not to do ASTM testing on their mats, so they do not come with any R-Value or alternative insulation rating.
