12v to 240v1 answer
Is there a way to connect this light to mains 240v? It would be nice to hook up while camping on a powered site without running it to the car.
Phill - Cherrybrook, NSW(4 months ago)
G'day Phill,
There is, but you'd need to pick up a 240v to 12v transformer from somewhere like Jaycar that covers 3A output.

Car 12v outlet1 answer
Will this run directly from my car's 12v socket without the engine running? And without draining the battery to much?
Matt - Ashgrove East, QLD (8 months ago)
G'day Matt,
It's not a question we can answer sorry. It depends on the size of the battery, the age of the battery, the temperature, and the vehicle's crank requirements. The only real way to determine that is to find out your vehicles minimum battery voltage, and run the light off it whilst using a volt meter to determine how long it takes for the voltage to drop. If you dont have a back up option to give you a jumpstart, probably best to uses a deep cycle battery if you can.

Thread gauge size2 answers
Could you tell me what size is the thread gauge for where the light attaches to the pole?
Natalie - Seaford(11 months ago)
I honestly coudn't tell you sorry, Natalie, it's not information EPE have at hand so this question would probably need to go all the way back to the factory. I guess if you were to purchase one you could take it to a hardware store and use their thread guage testers to find out if you are wanting to make up some sort of adapter.
Ben - Snowys(11 months ago)
Mine measures M8x1.25, standard 8mm bolt. The plastic thread on mine has broken so I am trying to repair. Other than that a great light.

Control Without Remote1 answer
Can this be turned on and off without the remote. e.g. if the remote is lost.
Craig - Kensington, WA (12 months ago)
G'day Craig,
It can be yes, but unplugging and replugging the light - but you won't be able to control the brightness. I do believe replacement remote controls can be obtained from Explore Planet Earth directly. Hope that helps.

Explore planet earth LED light on a pole1 answer
can you change the colour ie white to yellow?
Tom - South Toowoomba, QLD (1 year ago)
G'day Tom,
No, you cant. The EPE Area Light is a fixed colour, but can be dimmed for various brightness settings. You might be able to get some orange perpex & put a DIY filter on the light to make it warmer, however, the light can get hot, so you'll need to find a way to have an air gap.

Portable charger/powerbank power source?1 answer
What connector would be required to run this from a portable charger/powerbank? Thanks!
Jo - Melbourne, VIC(2 years ago)
G'day Jo,
This particular light only runs from a 12v power source via a standard 'cigarette' plug or merit plug. There's no option for this to be powered via USB or powerbanks, as these only produce 5v power.

Remote - multiple1 answer
Do all these lights use the same code for the remote? In other words, if I buy 3 lights can I control all 3 with 1 remote or is each remote tied to 1 light?
Paul - Brisbane(2 years ago)
G'day Paul,
Thats an awesome question! I've spoken to EPE and they're confirmed that the remotes are not coded, so you should be able to control multiple lights with a single remote.

Is this light dimmable?2 answers
Can you dim the light or is it just a single brightness?
Simon - Perth, WA(3 years ago)
G'day Simon,
There's no dimming function, but the Explore Planet Earth LED Area Camping Light Kit comes with a remote switch that turns the light On and Off, and also cycles between 3 light modes: Low, Med, High
Lauren - Snowys(3 years ago)
Hi all, my light dims down in about 15 small steps from full to almost nothing so its easy to get the right lighting level you need - its great.

Groud Mounting Stake1 answer
Any chance you could post a picture and provide dimensions of the ground mounting stake?
Steve - Sandringham, VIC(3 years ago)
G'day Steve,
We dont have any images I'm sorry, but it's a single metal stake about 8mm in diameter, and 65cm long, with 2 loops on it to hold the lamp post in place. If you are familiar with the classic in-ground metal fishing rod holders, it's essentially something like that. Hope that helps!

Replacing the remote sensor2 answers
Hi, is it possible to replace the remote sensor in the power supply lead with a rotary controller like some of the led strip lights come with? Regards Trevor
Trevor - GRENFELL(3 years ago)
G'day Trevor,
Explore Planet Earth doesn't make anything like that, but I'm sure if you've got some electronics know-how, you should be able to set something like that up with some parts from an electronics store.
Leece - Snowys(3 years ago)
You can replace the wireless dimmer with a standard rotary style dimmer from most manufacturers and this light works fine

My light EPE area light keeps flashing 2 answers
My explore planet earth area light keeps flashing non stop. It’s normally great but I can’t get it to work as normal. Please help. I cannot find anything online.
Peter - Sylvania (3 years ago)
G'day Peter,
It sounds as though something isn't quite right with your light. Best bet will be to jump on our warranty claims page and fill out the form so our team can assess it for you.
Leece - Snowys(3 years ago)
I've noticed my light flashes when it can't draw enough amps from the battery. Try either turning down the brightness or recharging your battery.

How do you think this light will go in the sand? Is the Peg for ground or sand?1 answer
Will this stand up in sand?
Adam - West End(3 years ago)
G'day Adam,
The mounting stake is designed for use in fairly solid ground (think grass), however you could try and set it up in sand, you might just need to dig down a little to the solid sand to stake it in and hold it up.
