Leki

The first Leki ski pole was developed following the dissatisfaction founder, Karl Lenhart, had with the quality and usability of the ski poles that existed on the market at the time. He used his own wood processing plant and familiarity with aluminium and composite processing from his aircraft manufacturing experience to create the first set of ski poles to be sold under the Leki brand.

This was in 1970, and since then Leki has grown to include revolutionary technologies that are used worldwide today. The Makalu was the world's first telescopic trekking pole in 1974 which was closely followed by the flex tip which is used as a standard in almost all trekking poles we know today.

In 1984, Klaus Lenhart, Karl's son, took over the helm at Leki and continued to develop revolutionary technologies including anti-shock trekking poles, ergonomically designed grips, new Coretec materials for comfort and numerous other advances that made Leki ski, Nordic walking and trekking poles more durable, functional and reliable than any other poles on the market.
