Yes, you can, but each dimmer switch provides enough current to power roughly around 2 meters of lighting. You can join two of these, but if you want to add more you'll need to do it on another string, with another dimmer. Not 100% clear on your question sorry, so hopefully I've got this right! There are stripes of velcro along the back which wrap around awning poles or bars. Hope that helps!

The Lifestyle is the more entry-level/base level option with slightly less rugged materials and the option to only have white or orange light. Still an excellent option if its ticks your boxes! The 1.2m 3 Colour has an upgraded tech dimmer which allows both white & orange light, as well as a function to operate both different colour LED chips for 3rd colour, blended warm white. It also has slightly higher denier fabric on the light strip cover aswell, so just all round bit of a level-up on the lifestyle option. Hope that helps.

Can I run this directly from the cigarette lighter plug or is there a risk that it will flatten the car battery?

You'll be ok to run this from the car battery for a few hours each night. If you have any concerns running the car for a short while should keep the car battery topped up.
