The C-Gear Multimat is the ultimate groundsheet for your campsite, caravan park or as a makeshift helipad for…… well, for those moments you need a helipad.
Also manufactured to provide 90% shade protection, the C-Gear Multimat is made with a multi-woven, dual-layered synthetic that allows sand, dirt and spills to fall through keeping your campsite, or helipad, dust-free. It is also preferred in caravan parks, allowing the grass to breathe and grow beneath so you don’t leave dead patches upon departure.
Keep the camp area clean and comfortable with the ever-versatile Multimat from CGear.
Does it stop condensation coming up from underneath it effectively.I sleep in a swag on a stretcher
G'day Paul,
It can help, but it isn't bulletproof - theres a range of different variables, so it isnt always a straightforward answer. Ultimatley, the best defense against condensation is airflow.
Check out our Podcast episode on how to manage condensation here.
These mats sound great and I'm likely to get one. Are they intended to be used with things like camp tables and chairs on top of them? If the mat is on soft ground then chair legs might try to poke through and put some strain on the mat. Also, if a site doesn't have space for the full size to be used, I guess there's no issue folding part of the mat underneath.
G'day Roger,
These are designed as an annex mat, so it's reasonable to assume chairs and tables will be used on top. The mat is very strong, and chair legs are highly unlikely to poke through. My grandparents have been using theirs with a small table and a few chairs for at least 5 years with no issues.
In terms of folding it up to suit the space, absolutely no issues whatsoever!
What size mat would be appropriate for the Blackwolf Turbo 300?
G'day Myles,
That depends on what you are wanting to cover.
Generally, the C-Gear Mat is used for annex matting, instead of a groundsheet for under your tent.
If you are wanting to use as annex matting, the approximate awning space of a Turbo 300 is 1.9 x 3.1m. Otherwise, you would decide what area or space you want to mat to cover, and choose a C-Gear mat size that is closest to that.
Bear in mind that if you are not able to get the exact size, you may need to peg holes through the mat - just make sure the orientation is the same each time, so you're not adding loads of holes.
Alternatively, look at the Black Wolf Turbo Groundsheets, specifically designed to fit the Turbo tent range.
What size or 2mats maybe best for the darche270 awning?
G'day Andrew,
Ground mesh or mats are not a 'one size fits for one particular product' type scenario.
When choosing what size or sizes to go with, we recommend measuring out how much ground you would like covered first, and then choose your size or combination of sizes based of that.
Everyone's coverage requirements may be different, depending on how they use their awning, whether or not they have walls, etc.
So the first step is to work out how much area you actually want to cover.
Just wondering how hot the mat gets after a few hours of outback sun on it. Can you go barefoot on it comfortably, safe for children to sit on?
G'day Steve,
It's not something we can say with any certainty without taking it out in those situations ourselves, as its the kind of info that comes from personal experience.
The only thing I can say is that we've sold these for more than 5 years, and never had any feedback about them getting too hot to use.
They're one of the most popular ground mats in the whole industry, including my grandparents having theirs for 7 years, and it's not something I've ever heard of as being an issue.
Hi, does it matter which side faces up when you use it or is it reversible?
G'day Blake,
The C-Gear Multimat is fully reversible therefore can be used either green or grey side face up.
Looking for a ground may big enough for our new Darche Safari 350 but would still like to be able to peg out vestibules etc. The tent measures 2.6*3.5 when open but there is obviously an awning area out the front that would be good to cover as well. Any idea if any of these will work? They all seem a bit narrow or too big...
G'day Toby,
Most tents don't have an exact compatible mesh footprint.
When choosing a ground mesh for tents, you just need to work out the size that you'd like to have covered, and then choose a mat as close to that measurement as you like.
If the ground mat requires pegs to go through, just make sure you set it up the same way every time so that you're pegging through the same holes.
This is a very common outcome, so alot of people opt to use an Eyelet Kit to make the holes, which keeps everything looking neat and tidy.
Hope that helps!
Could eyelets be punched into the mat to allow the corner pegs of a swag to pass through without creating holes that may lead to a tear by simply pushing the pegs through it?
What size would fit the Darche 180 eclipse awning?
G'day Sam,
Due to the shape of the Eclipse 180 awning, you won't get an exact fit with the rectangular mat. The 2.4m x 6.0m will give cover you under the whole awning, and will give you some extra space at the edges too, so we'd recommend that size.
I got a Darche Nebula swag from you guys which is great. Would the C-Gear mat 2.4 x 1.8 suit underneath?
G'day Paddy,
Glad to hear the Nebula is going well. The 2.4 x 1.8m CGear Mat is a good size for this set up. We'd just recommend keeping the set up the same each time, as your swags pegs may make a small hole through the layered mesh, so using the same hole each time would be ideal.
Hi there, what size CGear mat will go under the Blackwolf Turbo Lite 240? Thanks
G'day Jess,
The 2.4 x 4.3m version will probably be the best option for your Turbo Lite 240 tent. At this size the mat will go under the tent body, as well as the front awning area.
Is there 6m X 3m mat available?
G'day Troy,
We list all 8 sizes currently available from CGear on the site, and 6m x 3m isn't a current size they make sorry.
Is green the only colour available?
G'day Kevin,
Thanks for your enquiry. The C-Gear Multi Camp Mat only comes in green/grey.
Can the size 2.3 x 6m of this mat fit black wolf tent Turbo 240 plus?
G'day Eric,
Yes, the C-Gear Multi Camp Mat 2.4 x 6m will suit the Black Wolf Turbo 240 Plus Tent.
Are there any steel pegs supplied with the C Gear mat?
G'day Barry,
The C-Gear Multi Camp Mat isn't supplied with any pegs, so you're welcome to purchase any style that will suit the conditions you plan to use the mat in.
Will puddles form underneath? Does it keep water from seeping through from wet grass?
G'day Trent,
The C-Gear Multi Camp Mat will perform well in the wet, the water should drain through the mat and into the ground/grass. The only issue you might face would be if you're camped on
Hi, do these mats need tension to be effective? Ie can you just lay them out or should they be pegged?
G'day Laura,
I'm so sorry for the delay in answering your question, I've just looked into this and you don't need to tension the C-Gear Multimat in order for it to be effective (i.e. pegging it out). However, it will be the most effective when laid out flat - so that's something to keep in mind.
Hi there, I was just wondering if the fly sheet of the Oztrail Ultimate All Weather Queen Stretcher would be able to be pegged out properly over the edges of the C-Gear 2.4 x 1.8 m Multi Camp Mat without poking holes into it? Cheers
G'day Andrew,
I've just crunched the numbers for you and you should have no issues at all with using the 2.4 x 1.8m C-Gear Multi Camp Mat underneath the Oztrail Ultimate All Weather Stretcher without piercing it at all with the pegs.
Does it come with a carry bag?
G'day Eddy,
Unfortunately, the C-Gear Multi Camp Mat doesn't come with a carry bag but I'm sure you'll be able to find a canvas carry bag to suit here.
G'day Peter,
My bad! You're 100% correct, they do have a carry bag. It's made of the same mesh as the groundsheet, hence my confusion. Just to confirm, they do indeed have a carry bag.
Is there any reason why this product couldn't be folded and rolled and stored in the same way as the Black Wolf Turbo 240 groundsheet? (Looking for something similar to the Turbo version for the Turbo's extanda awning and need it to pack down small.)
G'day Jude,
Great question. There's no reason why you can't roll or fold it however you want to make it work for you.
If annexe is 5.2m for example, would you extend longer out of the annexe as some sites you're unable to peg down due to slab. If I purchased a longer one would the water seep through into Annexe when raining?
G'day Caroline,
It is really difficult to advise you on which size CGear mat to buy, it really requires you determining the size that best fits your specific application. As for the water ingress, the mat will not wick water towards the centre, so your annexe area should stay nice and dry.
Have Jayco Silverline 21.65ft slide out caravan. What size CG Gear Multimat should I purchase?
Hi Karen,
I guess if you want to park your caravan on top of the mat and have a bit of overhang you could choose the 2.4x7.5m but if you want it to include a picnic area under an awning, perhaps the larger size of 3.05x3.05m might be best.
Feel free to give us a call to discuss if you need. Cheers!
Are the multi mats the same as the quicksand sand mats? I've seen other brands carry on about sand going through the mats but to tell you the truth it basically just sits on the top. Yes after heaps of brushing and shaking it goes through but it is easier to lift, shake it off and put the mat down again.
G'day Tony,Â
I can see why you'd be a little bit sceptical, but quite honestly, this product does exactly what it says it's supposed to do - dirt and sand will fall straight through this mat. We've had a lot of positive feedback from other customers, so it's a product that we really stand by.Â
C-Gear have made a pretty good video which you can check out here which shows their Multi Camp Mat in action, which might be helpful for you. Failing that there are heaps of user generated reviews and videos out there (not made by C-Gear) which show how this product work as well.Â
Hi, which size mat is more suited for the Brampton Tent, please.
Hi, your description says that this can be used as a ground sheet. Does this mean it can be used under a tent like a tarp? Or would a tarp be better?
G'day Jane,
The C-Gear mat should be able to help with smaller prickles and burrs however we're not too sure how they would go with bigger 3 corner jacks etc.
I am wanting to purchase a CGear mat for our caravan. We want the 5.2mtr x 2.4mtr for our caravan annexe. Other suppliers have theirs listed as 5.2m long x 2.4m wide whereas yours are listed as 2.4m long x 5.2m wide. What's the difference? Thanks Regards Roger
Hi, The photo of C-Gear multi mat on your website looks different to the one from other sellers which has reinforced edges with brass eyelets. Are they the same product or is this old version of it? Thanks, Ben
Thanks for that Ben. Unfortunately, you have not answered my question. Are all your Cgear mats green on one side and grey on the other? The reason I ask is that in the past I have had one that was green on both sides and I want to make sure that you do not supply me with one of those!
