Similar to the bladder on a store-bought box of water, you just level off the silicone valve.
It can be challenging to do by hand, especially when brand new, so you may need to employ a round ended butter knife or screw driver.

I personally have a few of these for the last couple of years. I've carried them around in backpacks, and even my big handbag sometimes, and never had any issues with leaking at all.

I've checked in with Sea to Summit on this one, and yes it's a foiled lined bladder that is BPA-free.

Sorry mate but there are no hoses available to fit the Sea to Summit Pack Taps. If you like the idea of a 10 litre water bag but want to connect a hydration system to it, have a look a the MSR Dromedary Bags and matching hydration hose.

The important thing with the Sea to Summit Pack Tap is to ensure that you rinse and dry the bladder after use. Then we'd recommend that in storage, you leave the cap off to ensure the bladder stays ventilated.

That would be a good idea Dave but there's no connection that I'm aware of as most conversion hoses attach to wide mouths and this pack tap is too narrow unfortunately.
