Can this be used with any butane bottle universally or does it need to be a coleman butane?

It needs to be used with the hiking-specific butane/propane blend canisters with a Lindal valve. It doesn't have to be Coleman specific, but you can find examples of the type of canister here - making sure you're going with the screwable valve canisters instead of the piercable option.
We can't ship them, but they are a universal canister for hiking and light-weight adventures, so should be available in any camping store.

We wouldn't recommend using this with a Trangia, no. The windshields of the Trangia would come down over the gas canister of the Coleman Peak 1 Trekking Stove and we're not too comfortable with the safety aspects of it if it got too hot in there.
