When it's really warm or freezing cold, condensation can form under the mattress in your rooftop tent, which is why the RTT Anti-Condensation Mat from Darche is key for preventing that issue in your sleeping set up.
Constructed from woven polypropylene, if you lay this mat between the factory mattress and the alloy base, it will create more air flow and circulation, to help stop condensation underneath.
With sizes available for both 1600 and 1400 sized Darche Roof Top Tents, you can minimise moisture build-up with the RTT Anti-Condensation Mat from Darche.
How do you clean? Is it machine washable?
G'day Cally,
I've not heard of these being cleaned before, but given the actual product itself and how its constructed, the best bet would be to hang it over the washing line and give it a good squirt out with your hose or power washer - just let it drip dry.
Hi. Since those are recommended for RTTs, do have one for a mattress in a camper trailer? Thanks
We've only got the mats specific for the rooftop tents sorry, I guess you could still use it but it won't necessarily fit neatly.
Can this mat be cut to size?
G'day Jess,
In theory it probably could, but I would make sure you have a option to rebind the edge instead of leaving it raw, as the threads of the woven top and bottom netting may unravel.
Hey, just wondering if this would be suitable for the 23Zero Dakota 1400 RTT? Or if you have another product available for that :)
G'day Leanne,
It is manufactured by Darche but suitable for use with any Roof Top Tent.
Just triple check your sleeping area dimensions against the dimensions of the condensation mat to get an idea of fit.
I’d like to reduce the condensation between the swag floor and my foam mattress. Can this mat be easily rolled up inside the swag? Thanks
G'day Ann,
Generally, this type of matting won't help to reduce condensation in a swag. They're designed to be used in rooftop tents with aluminium bases, that get very cold due and increase condensation. Swags will generally benefit most from ventilation in cold weather, so we'd recommend opening up your ventilation windows to help reduce condensation. if you did chose to add one of these to your swag, it could be rolled up inside, this wouldn't be a problem.
Would this product only be used for the stock foam style mattress or is it still beneficial to use on a air mattress (eg Darche RTM 1400)?
G'day Joel,
Yes, the RTT Anti-Condensation Mat is useful to use underneath any mattress style in your RTT. It is designed to improve airflow, and therefore reduce condensation, which is fairly common in Rooftop tents.
Have the 2200 rooftop tent so would like to know if any can fit this?
G'day Simon,
The Anti-Condensation Mat is only made in the 1400 and 1600 size, so for the larger 2200 model you could run with 1 x 1600, or you could overlap 2 x 1400s
will this work if used in a regular tent under 2 self inflating mattresses. If it helps, my set up specifically is a Zempire TXL Aero Pro tent, 2 x blackwolf hexatherm 3d single mattresses together on the floor of the tent. I am wondering if the 1600 size of this will work to reduce condensation if placed between the mats and the tent floor or will it really only work on something with a hard floor?
G'day James,
You could use this mat inside a tent or swag, however, you won't get the same benefit as you do in a rooftop tent. The mat helps to improve airflow between the very cold base that is exposed to cold outside air temperatures and the foam mattress. In a tent that is pitched on the ground, the ground temperature difference isn't generally great enough to cause condesnation. Usually, in a tent the best way to handle condensation is by using the integrated airflow vents, however, you might find this matting adds a very small amount of benefit under your mattresses on the tent floor.
I have a rooftop darche, just wanting too the best lay out for this item. Thanks
G'day Guy,
The anti-condensation mat is designed to go between the floor of the rooftop tent, and the mattress. The last image probably shows a little more clearly how it works, with the mattress pulled up and away in the photo.
Would this work for another brand RTT? My mattress is 140 wide and 240 long?
G'day Metin,
Yes this should work with other brands that are the same size without any issues.
Hi what are the exact dimensions of each mat?
G'day Richard,
There are two mats sizes, and the external dimensions will update when you select the size from the drop-down menu. The 1400 is 236L x 136W cm, and the 1600 is 236L x 156W cm.
