Quick pitch and sturdy, the Oztent Screen House erects to provide a roomy shade shelter in seconds.
Made with flexible fibreglass poles terminated in ultra-tough mechanisms, the Oztent Screen House is pitched by simply inverting the walls and putting two flexible upright poles in place to create a sturdy and roomy enclosure with four mesh sides and a single zippered entrance.
With pack up being just as easy as it is to pitch, the Oztent Screen House has a seam-sealed waterproof roof and has optional accessories including a mesh floor saver and sidewalls that attach to the side and rear walls (the front wall cannot be enclosed).
Does it have a built in floor?
G'day Kate,
This one does not come with a built in floor. We would recommend this one though: https://www.snowys.com.au/ultramesh-tarp. Happy Camping!
What is the price of the walls - either 2, 3 or 4?
G'day John,
You can find the walls in the "You might also like" section on the product page.
They are sold individually. Bear in mind that the walls are a single solid piece of material, so its not possible to have a wall over the door side. The maximum number of walls for the Square screen house is 3.
When you say it’s not good in wet conditions, is it likely to collapse or is it just that the fabric might leak? Would throwing a tarp over it help or would the weight be too much? We don’t ‘plan’ to spend a lot of time camping in the rain but would we need to rush out and take it down if woken by rain in the night?
G'day Robyn,
The roof of the screen house will generally shed water fairly well so collapsing isn't really a concern, however it doesn't have a specified waterhead rating, so water will likely leak through over time. Adding a tarp won't really help improve the situation in the rain. We'd suggest keeping an eye on it in the rain, and just don't leave anything that will be damaged by water inside if the weather changes.
How many of the four walls open up? Is there a zipper in each wall, if not how many? And do the walls roll up so you have free and easy access without the screens being down on occasion?
G'day John,
There is just one access point on the Oztent Screen House. The front panel has a central zip for entry, this side can be secured to the sides (like the second photo) as needed if you don't require full mesh protection. The other 3 walls are fixed and can't be used for entry or rolled up.
Screen popup waterproof tent
G'day Chris,
Unfortunately, all of the screen house options we've currently got aren't great it heavy rain, they're really designed for fair weather camping, with occasional showers.
Are the roof and optional side walls waterproof?
G'day Judy,
The Screen House has a waterproof roof, and when used with the optional sidewalls will keep you dry in mildly wet weather.
I'd like one I can use on the roof of my truck
G'day Phil,
We do sell the Oztrail Canvas Steel Pole Bag and the dimensions are really, really close. I only had an Oztent Screen House in the box and it didn't quite fit when I tried it, but I reckon out of the packaging it might just squeeze in. It'd mean packing the screen house away really tightly every time though. My other suggestion would be to look up your local custom canvas manufacturer and seeing if they can whip something up for you.
xx
G'day Tara,
I guess you could use these as a beach shelter, although it's probably not really designed for beach use. As far as weighing it down, you might need to look into using what I've always called 'dead man' anchors. Simply fill a plastic bag or similar with sand and tie it to the guy ropes and peg points, then either
One picture is green and one picture is blue. How many colours do they come in? Also is it right that there is no front solid wall option? This would mean it can't be fully covered in for privacy? Thanks.
G'day Wendy,
I'm not quite sure which pictures you've looked at but the Oztent Screen House we sell only comes in green (There is an OzTrail 3x3 screen house with inner kit which is similar that comes in blue).
There is also a solid wall additional option called the screen house wall square which gives privacy and protection.
In the video on the website, there is a slide further in that it looks blue. Green is good, thanks. I meant the front zip door for a solid wall to enclose the whole tent or is this always just mesh. Is there any Velcro on the front door that you could attach a wall or no Velcro? Thanks.
G'day Wendy,
The Oztent Screen House isn't designed to have a solid wall go over the door panel as then you wouldn't be able to use the door itself. Unfortunately, you can't get a solid panel with a zip either.
Does this stay up in the wind or gusts? Is it more or less stable than the bigger, hex design?
G'day Milly,
The Oztent Screen House will more or less have the same stability as the Screen House Hex. As for holding up in windy conditions - in driving wind or rain it's going to reach it's limitations, as it's designed as a shade house.
In a gust of wind though, it should hold up well as long as you peg it out properly.
Is a carry bay included, if not are they optional
G'day Kevin,Â
I've just checked with Oztent, and the Screen House does come with a heavy duty carry bag - it seems we didn't have that bit of info on our product page, so I do apologise about that - but I've just added it, so the correct details should be live right now. Â
G'day Nathan, the Oztent Screen House is free standing - so you can use it as an extra room or shade shelter, but it can’t be connected to RV tents.
Hi Tracy, the Oztent Screen House is made from a fine mesh that is definitely insect proof, but there’s no specific information about midges. In general, small biting insects do have a knack of finding their way in through any gaps at the base of shelter, or when doors are opened so that’s something you might want to keep that in mind.
I looked at the oztent website youtube video and it doesn't indicate that any additional poles are required. According to the video it just pops up! Is this correct or are there additional poles
where do the poles that make it sturdy fit they are included in the video and are the optional side walls included in the package?
