The Single Burner Wok Cooker from Companion is an easy to use cooking option when you next need to cook in the great outdoors.
I want to connect to a 2kg bottle with a 3'8" BSP-LH thread. I currently use a converter to connect my POL regulator. I saw that this comes with an LCC27 hose but there’s no picture. Can this work with my bottle?
G'day Ian,
We dont believe it can, sorry. As far as we have been advised, one of the elements of this change over is not using adaptors to connect gas supplies. Most gas appliances now come with explicit instructions in the manual that the adapter cannot be used. Im not sure if we'll see that change in the future, but you'll need an LCC27 gas bottle.
Hi, I just bought this stove from Snowys and love it. I was wondering if there would be a suitable Blacksmith bag for it?
G'day Paula,
There isn't a specific bag for the single wok cooker - it does fit into the Large Drawer Bag, but it doesnt fill the whole space. You can use the adjustable velcro divider to fit snug up against the cooker itself, and you have around 15cm of leftover space. This is a nifty idea to hold teatowels, wooden spoons, etc and even oil, salt & pepper for example. You could even store things like paper towel, glad wrap, etc - any other kitchen essentials.
Great, I was looking at that bag thinking it would probably do the job plus some extra storage. Thanks :)
Excellent!! Glad to have helped.
The video shows this stove has no bottom therefore alot of the heat is reflected down. What could you use or do you stock something that would be used to put the cooker on top of? Is this also the case for the single burner gasmate stove?
G'day Dom,
Generally we'd recommend putting something underneath the stove if you have a plastic blow mould style table. Most hardware/bbq stores sell heat resistant matting/tiles that can help to reduce any risk of heat damage. If you're using an aluminium/steel table, you won't need to worry about heat damage. The Gasmate Single Burner Stoves generally don't put out enough heat to cause damage to a table top.
Can you please confirm the Gas fitting. There's a couple of conflicting answers to some of the other questions. Is it a SAE or BSP fitting? Picture looks like an SAE
G'day Russell,
The fitting is definitely 3/8" SAE, the 3/8" BSP references I could find were in relation to the gas bottle attachment.
Can this be used with a disposable propane bottle? If not what is the smallest LPG bottle it can be used with? We are very short on space and don't go on long trips so using minimal space is more important than the cost of fuel
G'day Alyshia,
No, this Cooker isn't able to be run from a disposable propane canister. The smallest LPG cylinder we carry is 1.25kg, it has a 3/8" BSP fitting, so you'd need to use a 3/8" BSP to POL adaptor with this combination.
That is , what sized base of a cooking pot can fit comfortably on the trivet ?
G'day Karen,
The inner diameter of the trivet is 13cm, so we'd recommend pots with at least a few centimetres of extra diameter to comfortably sit stably on the trivet.
Can this wok burner be installed in a caravan
G'day Shirley,
The Wok Cooker is for outdoor use only, so you can use next to your caravan, but not inside your caravan.
The size of the trivet seems very big to me. I doubt small pots will fit the trivet. Can we somehow change the size of the trivet?
G'day Kevin,
The Trivet size is fairly large as it is designed for use with woks and larger pots. Unfortunately, there is no way to put a smaller pot on this stove, if you're wanting to use smaller pots, then a smaller stove might be the best option.
it says that it uses lpg, can you connect it to the gas port on the wall for nature gas? if yes, does it come with the hose to connect? thank you
G'day Eric,
Unfortunately you won't be able to use this stove with natural gas. Your best bet will be to get in contact with an outdoor kitchen supplier, or BBQ store for something that will work on natural gas.
Companion Single Burner Wok Cooker. does this stove come with carry bag. If not do you have a suitable bag/
G'day David,
The Single Wok Burner doesn't come with a carry bag, and unfortunately, there isn't really a bag option that will suit this stove. It's not an ideal fit as it will be a little too big, but you could pop it in the Zempire Deluxe & Grill Stove Carry Case.
Hi . What is the distance between the trivet arms please? I'm hoping I can use an espresso pot on this but wanted to check first. Thanks
G'day Jo,
The inner-circle that is NOT covered by the trivet is 13cm diameter. This means you can only use something that has a larger base than 13cm diameter.
Hope that makes sense!
Would you recommend his product or another to cook crabs and prawns?
G'dat Wayne,
The Single Wok Burner packs a fair punch and there are some people who will use this stove for boiling/steaming seafood. We do find more people go for the Mega-Jet Outdoor Power Cooker or Power Cooker & Stockpot Set though as they'll get your water going much more quickly, and can handle a much larger pot.
Can you please confirm that the cooker measures 305mm wide and 390mm from front to back when standing at the front (the side the knob is on) and not the other way around as stated in the owners manual. Thanks.
G'day Ross,
I've measured our floor stock and the dimensions match the above specs on this webpage - 300mm wide by 390mm in depth (front to back).
Some camping stoves don't have a simmer control meaning pots boil dry and the food is burnt It appears that the burner is large and I may not be able to simmer meaning food will be burnt.
G'day Teresa,
Most camping stoves have trouble on a simmer function as they need to be strong enough to cook effectively in outdoor/windy conditions. The Single Wok Burner does have a 'low' function, in which the internal ring only has flame, and this can work well for simmering, but it wont be efficient at all in windy conditions. The Coleman Eventemp Stove is known to be a good option for people wanting a better simmering stove, so that might be worth a look.
Generally we dont advise leaving pots and pans on the stove without supervision, so your best bet to avoid food burning or boiling dry on any kind of camping stove, is to keep an eye on it.
If flame goes out gas it turned off
G'day Bob,
Thanks for getting in touch, I couldn't quite work out what you meant here, but I can confirm that the Single Wok Burner doesn't have a flame failure function. Gas will continue to flow if the flame is blown out.
https://www.snowys.com.au/2-burner-stove-canvas-bag would this bag fit this stove? many thanks in advance!
G'day Rachel,
I've just looked into this and Companion doesn't make a specific bag for this Wok Burner, but from looking at the dimensions of the OZtrail 2 Burner Stove Bag, it looks like it'll be a good fit for this model.
Can this be used with a small 2kg gas bottle without a regulator? Thanks
G'day Mark,
The hose that comes supplied with the Companion Single Burner Cooker has a regulator and you'll definitely need to use that, but you can still run it from a smaller gas bottle. Assuming your 2kg bottle has a 3/8" fitting you'd just need to grab a 3/8" BSP to POL adapter and you're good to go.
If it was a no wind day and a standard autum day just wondering how long will it take to boil water. I know it has a high output but if it is a bad design it will take a long time and burn through a lot of gas
G'day Brent,
The Companion Single Burner is a powerhouse! Its output is similar to your stove at home so to boil a couple of
Is the pot trivet detachable for cleaning purposes?
G'day John,
Is it true that this appliance must not be mounted directly on to other surfaces such as Laminex, Plastic or Timber?
G'day John,
These burners put out a lot of heat and it's a good idea to put a heatproof mat down before using it on any surface that you don't want to damage. Just in case!
I know this question has been answered before - as in being used in a well ventilated area. Would a good range hood suffice in providing adequate ventilation?
G'day Barry,
It sounds like you might be ok, but it's hard for us to say. Being a potential safety issue, the answer is always going to be that these aren't really designed for indoor use.
I bought this stove and an adapter as you have suggested to someone else, to use the small coleman gas cannisters. I am concerned that in the manual it says several times "DO NOT USE ADAPTERS." Can you explain why?
G'day Donna,
Companion are just covering their backsides with recommending people don't use adaptors with their Single Burner Cooker. There's a lot less that can go wrong (human error) if people just use what is initially supplied with their stoves. If you took all precautions, it would be fine but it's always better to be safe than sorry.
Excuse my ignorance, but does this connect to the gas bottles that you get refilled at the service station? I think they're called LPG? You know - the ones that often come with a gas lantern?
G'day Fayley,
You're bang on the money there. You can use the LPG bottles that you grab from the servo to fuel your Companion Single Burner Cooker!
Will a round bottom wok be too close to the flame
G'day Karen,
You shouldn't have too many issues with the Companion Single Burner Cooker when using a wok. As long as you're regularly stirring the food, then you shouldn't have too many troubles with it burning in the hot sections of the wok.
Hi there, What hose or adapter would be needed to make this stove compatible with the small Coleman propane canisters?
G'day Jules,
To use the little propane canisters on your Companion Single Burner Cooker all you need is a UNEF to 3/8 BSP Adapter. You can find them here.
Ben, thank you for the reply. Just further to the initial query, I have discovered that to complete the connection you will also need a 3/8 BSP to POL adapter in order to connect the UNEF to 3/8 adapter that you have linked, to the hose that is supplied with the Companion burner. Thanks once again.
G'day Jules,
Just to fix up our advice on this one. We'd probably not recommend people use two adaptors in the same line. Unfortunately, this particular stove really isn't designed to be used with propane canisters.
does it work ok in the wind
G'day Graham,
If you were to experience any significant breeze, the Companion Single Burner Cooker may struggle to maintain consistent heat. In this instance, we'd recommend having a windshield handy, like one we have available here.
I am considering buying two of these burners. The two burner version is TOO wide to fit.
G'day Peter,
Great question. We'd recommend splitting the gas supply at the bottle with a POL cylinder to dual POL outlet adapter available here which you can then screw the two stove hoses directly into.
my questions are: 1. is that rotate button electric firing lock shown in the picture? 2. Is that rotate button used to adjust flames?
G'day Zhang,
The knob on the front of the Single Burner Cooker is the adjustable gas control (with piezo ignition) that will allow you to adjust the flame on this cooker.
Need suitable gas camping stove to fit to 9kg bottle
G'day Maysa,Â
The Companion Single Burner Cooker comes with a 1 metre house with a POL fitting and regulator - so you can use it straight to a 9kg bottle.Â
If it can what modifications does it need
