Stainless STeel can only be laser engraved. As to the suitability of engraving on this cup, you would need to get into with an engraving professional for further advice.

I'm wondering if the 8cm mug will allow an Aeropress to sit on top of the mug opening. My current mug opening is too narrow

I've just checked this for you with my trusty Aeropress and unfortunately, it's too wide for the 8cm, but a good fit for the 9cm. You'd need to use the funnel adapter for the 8cm mug if you went with that option.

I bought one recently, and obviously I'm not ONLY using it for camping...when at home can I chuck it in the dishwasher? Some double-wall products say no, some say yes.

A double wall cup such as this is not ideal for use directly over a flame, it won't heat efficiently and may also damage the cup. I use a large enamel mug myself, which works perfectly and keeps it simple.
