Ever find yourself madly whacking in pegs to guy your swag, wishing you had chosen a spot with softer ground? The OZtrail Swag Pole Plus Kit allows you to ditch the guy ropes and set up your swag to be freestanding.
With an easy to use lever lock, all you need to do is insert the spigot into the eyelet at each end of your swag, adjust the length, lock it in, and you’re done.
Is this compatible with a kings double swag
We aren’t familiar with intricacies of the Kings brand sorry, but I'd say it is more than likely compatible provided there are suitable eyelets. ~ Ben
Does this new version fit the eyelets on the new OZtrail Mitchell Expedition Single Swag? I am looking to get both. Thanks
G'day Hannah,
Yes, the Centre Ridge Swag Pole is compatible with the current version of the Mitchell Expedition Single Swag.
I own an Oztrail Biker swag - a couple of years old now. I'd like the flexibility of being able to use it freestanding when pitching on hard surfaces. Would also be useful for overflow accommodation on my back deck.
G'day Denis,
The Centre Ridge Pole isn't compatible with the Biker Swags as is, however, if you added some eyelets to your swag, you should be able to make this set up work.
I have an older model mitchell double and would prefer to use this. What size eyelets are needed so i can get them added to my swag?
G'day Fallon,
The spigots on the Centre Ridge Swag Pole Kits are 7mm, so you'll need eyelets a little larger than that. Currently, the only eyelets we've got with an eyelet toolset are No.6, which have an internal diameter of 1.1cm which will suit, you'll just have a little extra space in the eyelet.
I see from others' comments that (~12months ago) there were issues with the diameter of the pins at either end of the pole being large enough to cause problems with some swags. What is the measured width of the pins (now, late Aug 2020)?
G'day Jon,
I've just measured up the spigot for you and its 7mm in diameter.
Is this pole long enough to replace the kings big daddy deluxe centre ridge pole?
I don't know how long the ridge bole of a Big Daddy swag is sorry, Jess, but this one goes up to 214cm. I'd add ab bit of a buffer into this and say that if the big daddy ridge pole is no longer then 200cm then you should be fine with this pole as a replacement.
The name says kit, so I am wondering if it comes with multiple poles.
G'day Isaac,
The Oztrail Centre Ridge Swag Pole Kit is a two piece pole with an internal connector. So yes it's two poles, but they're joined at the centre and created one long ridge pole when extended.
I see this Pole kit isn't going to be in stock till October. Is there another one (from another swag maker?) that would do the job? Thanks
G'day R,
Unfortunately, at the moment, there's not another pole that will fit in like the Oztrail Centre Ridge Swag Pole that we can offer you, I'm sorry to say.
Can you please tell me how a 214cm folds down to 85cm. I would like to check it is going to fit in the 90cm back before I purchase it and a bag
G'day Jackie,
Good question! The pole folds in half for stoarge but then the length of one of the halves is adjustable using the yellow lever, allowing you to adjust it to suit the length of your swag for pitching or carry bag if you're packing it away. I hope this makes sense, it's a difficult one to explain!
Hi, can you please tell me how the 214cm pole folds down to 85cm for storage. I wish to fit it in the KS duffle bag with the swag.

Will this pole work on a 3 year old Mitchell or are the eyelets something they added to the swag recently because I can't see any metal eyelets? Just a green canvas tag at each end? Thanks in advance
Howdy John,
In order for these to work the swag does need to have those eyelets on the tabs each end of your swag. If there are no eyelets there is no receptacle for the spigots on each end of the pole to push in to.
Is this pole kit compatible with the Oztrail Lachlan swag?
Hi Cara,
I’ve just checked with Oztrail, and they say that the Swag Pole Plus Kit is compatible with the Lachlan, as well as the Mitchell King, Mitchell Expedition, Kokomo and Mitchell Double Swags from Oztrail.
