I assume that you also need to add something like a steripen to the process in order to get rid of any viruses?1 answer
Thanks!

G'day Ian,
The TrailShot Pocket Water Filter has a 0.2 Micron filter so while it can filter out bacteria and protozoa it isn't guaranteed to filter out viruses. Most viruses are 0.01 - 0.3 microns in diameter so might slip through. To be 100% sure you'd need to boil, treat with a UV purifier, treat with Katadyn tablets, or use a virus approved filter like the MSR Guardian Water Purifier.

Is Trailshot effective against Giardia?1 answer
Is Trailshot effective against Giardia? Would the combination of aquatabs plus Trailshot be suffcient against virus, bacteria and Giardia?
Danny - Lower Plenty(6 years ago)
G'day Danny,
The MSR Trail Shot Pocket Sized Water Filter is 99.9% effective against Protozoa (including Giardia and Cryptosporidia) and 99.9% effective against Bacteria so there would be no need to use in combination with aquatabs.
