When you’re heading off on an adventure where wet weather is on the cards, the technical Traverse Tv3 from Sea to Summit is the synthetic sleeping bag you can count on.
This bag will give you a bit of extra roominess compared to a traditional mummy bag as it has a tapered rectangular shape. You can adapt this bag to suit the climate, as it has a free-flow triple-zip design that can be closed up for warmth or opened up to ventilate. The half zip on the right side of the bag frees up your arms and allows for air flow, or the full length two-way left side zip and separate foot zip allows you to use it as a quilt.
Featuring a -4°C comfort rating and a -10°C lower limit to suit cooler conditions, this bag insulates with Sea to Summit’s unique WaveLoft construction, which is layers of looped THERMOLITE insulation to trap warm air. The shell is made from a 30D nylon with a DWR treatment and has a 20D nylon lining that’s easy to compress and lightweight.
The Traverse Tv3 from Sea to Summit is a reliable synthetic sleeping bag that will perform when you need it to out in the field.

Staff tip:Just to cover our bums, we need to mention that the drink bottle is a separate item.
Your packed size (noted as verified by you) lists 40x23, which is 9.2lt. But the stated compressed size says 20lt. Is the compressed size just an indication of the size of the stuff sack that the bag comes with, not the actual size of the sleeping bag once compressed and ready to put into your backpack- which is 9.2lt?

G'day Billy,
According to Sea to Summits info, the Regular sleeping bag requires a Medium compression sack (15L>5L) and the Long requires a Large (20L>6.5L). Ofcourse you may not be able to get the sleeping bag down to the smallest possible state of the compression sacks, but it wont be too far off.

Joining? 1 answer
Want some basic but warm bags for family use - as singles or joined for couple. Can I join the Tv2 & Tv3? Can I order a left & right zip?
Chris - Melbourne, VIC(3 years ago)
G'day Chris,
The Traverse models are a unisex bag, and all models have a left-hand zipper. If you're wanting to pair two bags together then you'd need to get a women's specific bag with a right-hand zipper in order to zip them together. The women's version of these bags are the Venture VT1 and VT2.

Max height v reality1 answer
I'm 181cm, the max height on the regular is 183. Is this realistic and would lead to a nice fit, or should I get the large instead?
Rob - Melbourne(4 years ago)
G'day Rob,
Our resident video expert here Ben is 183cm tall and he's jumped in most of the Sea to Summit standard length bags and said they're ok, but he suggests going to the long length if you want a little fit of extra foot room.

Joining bags together 1 answer
Can the regular and long bags be joined together to form a quilt?
Ann - 2000(5 years ago)
G'day Ann,
The Traverse TV3 Sleeping Bag can be joined to another Sea to Summit sleeping bag with a zip coupler system, but you would need to attach the bag to a Women's bag that has the opposing zipper (a Right Hand Zipper) - you could attach it to the Quest or Venture if you're looking for a synthetic sleeping bag.

G'day Duane,
Thanks for the great question about the new Sea to Summit Traverse TV3 Sleeping Bag. We're yet to see one of these in the flesh as they haven't landed yet, but our great mates at Sea to Summit have confirmed the regular size is packed in a Medium Compression Sack. The Packed Dimensions of 20L x 46W x 20Hcm are correct when fully extended, but you will be able to compress it a little for travel. This will mean you can cinch the 46cm down to around 30cm we think based on previous models, but it's really hard to say until we can try it for ourselves.
