For a sturdy touring tent that won’t weight down your trailer and will provide that extra space necessary to make your space more liveable– you can’t go past the Turbo Lite Plus 240 from Black Wolf.
This newly updated range has tape sealed seams where the floor and tent wall meet, and the fly has wider corners to guard against water leakage. In windy conditions, the extra reinforcing along the roof poles and the stronger mesh on the windows and doors will add to the robustness of this tent.
The three-pole awning can be turned into an extended living area with optional panels, or it can be sectioned off with an optional screen room for a fully enclosed space. The added PVC storm flaps at the bottom of the optional front and side panels will help keep your awning dry in wet weather, and the zips and Velcro on the panels attach to the fly to allow for tape sealing for added water protection.
The Turbo Lite Plus 240 can be separated into two spaces with the curtain divider, or you can roll it up to enjoy one large space - so you can customise it to your own needs. For a lightweight and roomy touring tent for a bigger group, you can rely on the shelter of a Turbo Lite Plus 240.
What is the waterhead rating of the tent inner, specifically where it is exposed to the weather because the fly doesn’t cover the entirety of the tent? You do quote the rating of the fly and the floor, but the tent inner is largely exposed without protection from the fly. Thanks.
G'day Guy,
The tent inner is made from the same fabric ultimately as the fly cap, and has the same waterhead rating.
Generally, the fly cap is designed to provide relief from UV damage, as well as protecing the inner tent from bird poop, twigs, leaf litter, etc.
Snowy have instruction videos on erecting & taking down these tents Is there a Snowys instruction video on how the pre fitted guy ropes work and how to use them It would b a big assist to BlackWolf users Thanks
We don't have a video on that sorry, Barry, but they are relatively straight forward to use.
The Black Wolf guy ropes are contained within the zippered pouches on the fly of the Turbo, you just need to remove the guy rope and peg then out at approximately 45 degrees on the corners and around 1-1.5 metres out from the edge of the tent, then tighten until it is just firm.
Is there anything specific outside of this that you are unsure about?
Hi, we have a turbo light plus. It’s got some real leaking issues -so I’m guessing it’s pre-2017 updates?- can you recommend a waterproofing spray that would work to mitigate this? Thanks!
G'day Jinna,
We'd need some more information about the leaking to be able to direct you further, however, we do have a video walking you through the multiple different options for re-waterproofing tents, based on the actual issue you have.
Check this out here, and if you still have questions or need further info after that, please get intouch on 1300 914 007.
Are these suitable to be used in winter with light to medium snow? Any other recommendations (non-canvas) in such conditions?
G'day Graeme,
The Turbo Lite tents are a 3-4 season tent, and in general, they should be able to handle light snow. We've had customers use them in light snow conditions and reports are they went fairly well. If there was going to be medium/heavy snow it would be important to monitor how much snow is on the tent fly and regularly clearing it off as they won't shed snow in some areas. The only other options we'd recommend for 3-4 season use are canvas tents, or the Oztent RV-3 Lite, which is similar in style to the Turbo Lite range, but a little smaller internally than the Turbo Lite Plus 240.
What can I use to repair a small tear in the floor?
G'day Erica,
We'd recommend using K-Tape, it's made from a similar material, and can be trimmed to size, and used to sandwich the tear.
Hi Guys, is there way to repair very small ash burns on the fly cover, they look more like scratches the actual holes, was thinking of using seam seal
G'day Anthony,
Seam Seal or Seam Grip will do a good job of filling in the stretches and ensuring your fly doesn't leak in these patches. Alternately if there are holes in the fabric then K-Tape or Tenacious Tape might be a slightly better option.
Can the awning be rolled or folded up while the tent is set up? We have a large gazebo and don't need to use an awning
G'day Lisa,
The Turbo Lite Plus 240 Tent awning is part of the tent fly and therefore must be set up and secured. There is no way to roll or fold up the awning.
I'd like to connect 2 turbo tents via the canopy. Then use the extra walls to create a large "living space" I know this is possible with the Oztent RV range, They're just too long for my trailer.
G'day Tim,
Yes, you can connect two turbo tents together using a Turbo Lite Extenda Awning Gutter.
Only erecting when needing extra space?
G'day Daniel,
You'll need to set up the entire tent including the rear bedroom section anytime you set it up.
just wanted to make sure what model these tents as I am comparing pricing
G'day Alan,
The Black Wolf Turbo Tents were updated in 2017, so all of our current tent stock is the most recent model with the improvements outlined in our blog post. Most of the stock we currently have was manufactured in 2018 or 2019.
Just wondering how warm this tent is when all closed up (or almost all closed up with only a tiny bit of ventage open to stop overnight condensation). My old tent had a completely open vented roof and it was freezing overnight even in Spring/Summer. Wanting something warmer that I can use throughout the year. Thanks
G'day Kyles,
The Turbo Lite Plus 240 Tent has a solid inner so it will be warmer than a tent that has a vented roof. They have lots of ventilation options if you need to use them, but if you don't you can zip everything up securely.
My tent has only 2 poles on the awning but we are wanted to add the extra room but don’t want to purchase without confirming it’s the correct one. I’m happy to send a photo to confirm what model we have. Thankyou.
G'day Amy,
Thanks for getting in touch, unfortunately, the awning screen rooms for the Turbo Range are only suitable for the 3 pole style awning design. Black Wolf previously had a range of accessories for the older 2 pole awning design but we can no longer get our hands on any of these.
How does the set up and packing time compare between the turbo lite 240 and turbo lite plus 240? I imagine the extra room would take considerable more time, specially to pack up
G'day Alzina,
The Black Wolf Turbo Plus 240 Tent does take a little longer to set up than the standard 240 but only by a couple of minutes. You can see the full set up on our YouTube channel here.
Just wondering if the rear window is gusseted like the side windows?
G'day Pete,
I've given Black Wolf a buzz to double check this for you. The bloke I spoke to was 90% sure that the back window on the Black Wolf Turbo Lite Plus 240 Tent was gusseted but he was going to go and double check it for us. As soon as I hear anything back, I'll let you know the outcome.
Sorry for the delay here Pete, we are pretty sure the window is gusseted, but don't have one of these on display at the moment to confirm.
We are waiting on details from Black Wolf, I'll let you know as soon as I have the info from them.
G'day Pete,
Thanks for your patience mate. I had confirmation this morning from Black Wolf that the back window on the Turbo Lite Plus 240 Tent is gusseted, just like the side windows.
We are looking into a new family tent and we like the look of this tent but heard horror stories of them leaking. Also the 'plus' section holding water on top. Have you heard much about this?
G'day John,
The pooling and leaking of water on the plus sections of these tents isn't something we've had problems with, neither our sales or warranties team have heard of any such issues. Some pre-2017 Turbo Tents developed a leak at the base of the tent where the wall meets the floor, but this has been rectified with modified seams and seam seals on the on current versions. Black Wolf Turbo Tents are good to go straight out of the box and they are covered by an excellent warranty, should you come across any manufacturing issues all you need to do is get in touch with us and we'll address it straight away.
What does the dotted line on the floor plan represent? Is this a partition dividing the tent into two rooms?
G'day Tracy,
That's correct. The feature of the 'Plus' model is the additional room at the rear and the line indicates the separation of the Black Wolf Turbo Lite Plus 240 Tent.
What are the differences between this model and the 2016 model?
G'day Ken,Â
I've just noticed that even though I answered your question the other day, for some reason it's no appearing on the website. I have no idea what happened there or if you recieved my original reply so I'll answer it again just in case.Â
There are a couple of differences between the 2016 and 2017 Turbo tents from Black Wolf. The main ones are that the 2017 models are tape seam sealed where the floor meets the tent wall seam, the fly has wider corners to prevent water coming through, the windows and doors have stronger mesh, and there is extra reinforcing along the ridge poles. Â
We've got a blog post that goes into detail about the updates, which sounds like it would be quite helpful for you. You can have a read of it here if you like.Â
