The north face hiking pants1 answer
Hi, I have some tnf hiking pants that have dwr but aren't waterproof in the way goretex etc would be. Would this be suitable for them?
Cara - Lesmurdie, WA(1 year ago)
G'day Cara,
Yep, TX Direct will be suitable for them. Basically what the TX Direct does is help restore the DWR treatment, but it won't be able to add additional waterproofing beyond the garment's original capabilities - hope that makes sense.

MacPac bivvy bag1 answer
Would this be ok for my very tied bivvy bag? No longer waterproof at all. Hate to loose it.
Peter - Brighton, VIC(2 years ago)
G'day Peter,
It certainly would hurt, might also be worth investing in Seam Sealer to do along the inside stitch lines as well. I would also recommend getting in touch with MSR and seeing if they can recommend a product to maybe do an internal coating on the bivy fabric. Gear Aid do a tent sealer but I know it's not necessarily compatible with some ultralight fabrics.

PU coated nylon flysheet1 answer
Hi. Water isn’t beading properly on my flysheet anymore. Would this be the product you’d recommend? Thanks
Margot - Meadowbank, NSW(2 years ago)
G'day Margot,
The Nikwax Tent & Gear Solar Proof would be the best way to go! The TX Direct is aimed primarily at wet weather clothing. Hope that helps!

Fjallraven backpack1 answer
I have a Fjallraven kanken backpack that needs a bit of TLC. Would this help re-waterproof it if I give the backpack a wash?
Megs - Woodend, VIC(2 years ago)
G'day Meg,
No, TX Direct is for lightweight Gortex style gear like tent flys and rain jackets, and gives it a light DWR coating which is not the same as waterproofing. You're best bet would be to hand wash with some Atsko Sport Wash, and use a waterproofing spray such as Silicone Water Guard afterward.

Would this work on a polyester puffa jacket?1 answer
The kids have simple polyester puffa jackets that had no waterproof claims when purchased, would this product add a level of water repellancy?
Emma - Kinross(3 years ago)
G'day Emma,
TX Direct Wash In Waterproofer is designed to replenish the DWR coating on a water-proof breathable item (like Gore-Tex). Based on your description it doesn't sound like the polyester puffa jackets have any water repellancy, so this product won't really help. We'd recommend a Silicone-based waterproofing spray to make the kids jackets water repellant.

The description for this appears to be for Nikwax TechWash rather than the product in the photo.1 answer
Can you tell me how many washes are possible with the amount in the bottle?
Sue - Flowerdale(6 years ago)
G'day Sue,
Thanks for picking that up for us! I've just double checked the Nikwax TX Direct Wash In Waterproofer for you and it needs about 100ml per garment, so you'll get 3 garments waterproofed with one bottle.
