If you find yourself rolling around on your air mattress like a turtle trapped on its back when it’s time to get up, then perhaps you could use a stretcher bed like the Darche XL 100 to make sleeping al fresco that little bit easier.
At 100cm wide, the laminated 600D PVC coated polyester base provides plenty of space for restless sleepers or to fit a swag. With a crossover frame construction made from steel and alloy for stability, this stretcher also has a unique plastic end to make assembly a breeze.
You can get a roomy, elevated night’s rest in the great outdoors with the XL 100 Stretcher from Darche.
Hi, Just out of curiosity is this stretcher is compatible with the Darche Ridgedome 1100 Swag? Or Do I need a bigger stretcher? Your advice is highly appreciated. Thank you!
G'day Lyle,
Yes this stretcher will work with the Ridgedome Swag, it will have a little overhang on both sides and most 1100 swags will. The Coleman Instant Swagger Stretcher 1P and the Oztent RS−1S King Single Stretcher are some wider options but all will work!
WHAT DARCHE SWAG WOULD BEST SUIT THE XL 100 STRETCHER
G'day Bob,
Any of the Darche Swags sized 900 - 1100 in width will fit onto the XL 100 stretcher. The 1100 sizes will have a little overhang on the sides but work well together ensuring all the guy ropes are pegged out.
The Darche Dusk To Dawn Swag, Dirty Dee Swag, Ridgedome and Air−Volution™ AD Swags 900 - 1100 will all suit.
Is the XL 100 stretcher folding bed usable in a Darche 260 Safari tourer tent
G'day Michelle,
It will fit but will take up one half side of the tents space. If you use 2 stretchers in the tent you'll basically be taking up the entire useable space, so won't have much area to move around.
Hope that helps.
Would this fit the 23Zero Dual Swag 1100 Swag on top? If not any other King Single stretchers that would?
An 1100 swag is going to overhang just about any stretcher bt a bit, Jason, as most of them are about 100cm wide. However, Coleman recently released the Swagger Stretcher which is 110cm wide and may be suitable. Check it out here - https://www.snowys.com.au/instant-swagger-stretcher-1p. The Oztent RS-1S stretcher is anohter alternative - https://www.snowys.com.au/rs-1s-king-single-stretcher-series-ii.
Would it be too small for a Darche Double Swag?
G'day Mark,
Yes, Darche double swags are 140cm wide, so you'd have an overhang of 20cm on either side of the outer bars of the stretcher, which would be too much overhang.
I have the Outdoor Connection’s Sundowner Titan Stretcher. While I find it extremely comfortable to sleep on, I also find it very heavy and adds unnecessary weight to my roof rack, as well as the bag not being durable (replacement bag did even last two trip before wearing a hole in it, 1st one stitching failed on bag). I am interested on the Darche stretcher to compliment the 900 Dusk to Dawn I own and am happy with but was wondering whether to bag on the Darche stretcher is more robust than the rubbish one from Outdoor Connections? And is the Darche one as well built as the very heavy but otherwise great Titan?
G'day Karl,
The XL100 is a fair bit lighter than the Sundowner due to the alloy components of the frame. The bag is made from fairly robust material and is possibly slightly heavier duty than the Sundowner bag. Overall we'd rate the Sundowner Stretcher itself a little more durable than the XL100 Stretcher. I'd recommend having a read of customer reviews on both items and making a decision from there, but the stretcher you've already got is a great option.
Can a weisshorn king single swag fit on this stretcher. Thanks
G'day Tuaine,
Unfortunately, we're not familiar with the Weisshorn swag range, however, this XL100 stretcher has been designed to accommodate most stretchers the are around 85-110cm wide, so a King Single swag should fit ok.
Will this suit the Darche Dusk to Dawn 1100. Looking between this and the RS-1S King Single stretcher
G'day Kerryn.
Yes the XL 100 stretcher is compatible with the Dusk to Dawn 1100, the RS-1S Strecher will also suit. In both instances there will be a small amount of overhang at either side.
Hi just wanna know if Darche Frontier 1200 will fit in this bed? What do you suggest? Thanks
G'day Glenda,
Unfortunately not, the Frontier 1200 is quite a bit too wide for the XL 100 Stretcher. Some of the double/queen stretchers will be wide enough, however, they all have a centre bar, which might make it a little uncomfortable to sleep in, unfortunately.
Hi there, I was wondering whether the darche ridgedome swag will fit on top of this? Cheers Leanne
G'day Leanne,
The Ridgedome Swag is 111cm wide so while it may fit on the XL 100 Stretcher there will be some degree of overhang.
We have a couple of 100 cm (king) wide airbeds which we sleep on but would like the convenience of being above the ground. The XL 100 appears to be the only stretcher that is wide enough to accommodate this arrangement. Would this work, or is there another option to comfortably sleep 'off the ground'?
The Darche XL 100 and the Outdoor Connection Sundowner Titan are the biggest stretchers we have, Danny. It will be quite a high bed once you add a full height air mattress and will possibly be a little less stable, but it is perfectly do-able.
The only other solution might be to use a double high airbed such as the Coleman All Terrain Double High Queen airbed - https://www.snowys.com.au/all-terrain-queen-dbl-high-airbed. The only problem here is that they don't come in single sizes.
.
It will, Patrick, but you'll have a few cms of overhang on the sides. The Outdoor Connection Sundowner Tita Stretcher is another option but will still leave your swag overhanging by a few cms each side.
Hi, Is the bag for the XL 100 stretcher rugged enought, waterproof enough and dustproof enough to carry on a roofrack? What is the bag made of? Regards
G'day Frank,
The bag that comes supplied with the Darche XL 100 Stretcher is made from an abrasion resistant nylon and whilst it's pretty good I don't think it'll keep your gear clean and dry on the roof racks. It's not seam sealed and the zipper is going to be the first place that lets water and dust sneak in. Because of the length, I can't think of a good alternative to show you sorry. It might be a case of making yourself a waterproof cover using some heavy-duty plastic if you absolutely need to carry it up there.
just ordered 2 stretcher beds. any recommendations for mattress to plonk on top? I notice the darche 900 is 20xm shorter & 10cm thinner than stretcher ... is there something that would fit better? just want a comfy night’s sleep.
G'day Jocelyn,
Unfortunately, the 1m width is something that's lacking a bit at the moment when it comes to camp mattresses. The only thing I could suggest if you were looking at something wider would be the Darche All Terrain Mattress 1100. This mattress will be a little wider than your stretcher but will offer the extra width that you're after.
Do you think this stretcher would be just a little
G'day Brad,
Unfortunately, you won't be able to fit your Darche XL 100 Stretcher in the Oztent RV5 Touring Tent if you wanted it to go lengthways. It depends a little on the height of the stretcher bed, but I would say that you wouldn't be able to go beyond 200cm at all.
i have a burke and wills simpson swag will this fit on this stretcher
G'day Troy,
Unfortunately, your swag is a little too wide for the Darche Xl 100 Stretcher. It will sag a fair bit at the sides because the poles will overhang the edges of the stretcher.
Does the stretcher make much difference in comparison to the swag on the ground
G'day Natalia,
From comparing the dimensions of the Darche Dusk to Dawn 900 it looks like this swag will fit well on top of the XL 100 Stretcher. In terms of the benefits, it really comes down to personal preference. Adding a stretcher will make your set up a little bit more complicated, but some people are more comfortable sleeping elevated, and it also means the base of the swag won't get as dirty when it's wet and muddy. I Hope that helps Natalie.
Hi does this stretcher come as pictured , I have seen it advertised elsewhere with light grey/white coloured legs?
G'day Glenn,
I've just called Darche to get confirmation, and they've told me that there haven't been any updates with the XL 100 Stretcher, so the legs are black as pictured online.
Im after a camp stretcher that will hold a Darche Air-Volution 1100 comfortably
G'day Charlie,
The Darche XL 100 Stretcher will be about 10cm too thin for the Darche Airvolution Swag. You'll be able to put it on the stretcher without too many concerns, the only small issue will be that you might lose a little bit of height on the swag as it might sag over the edges a little bit.
