Opens which way1 answer
Hi. The photos show it mostly opening to the, right but also a photo showing it to the left? (With the highest points of the shell shown at the back) Is there a choice?

The Yowie only opens from one side and looks like the last photo shows the Yowie flipped the other way. You can choose which way to mount this on, but the RTT itself only opens one way.

Roof load on tent1 answer
Hi just wondering if it would be suitable to carry a swag or kayak on the top of the hard shell cover? Thanks

G'day John,
The roof load has more to do with your specific vehicle, and unfortunately not many can have an additional load on top of the roof top tent.
Standard heavy-duty roof racks have a max load rating of 100kg. As the Yowie 1900 is 95kg including all fixings, you're already getting close with only 5kg to spare.
If you happen to have a 3rd roof rack, that will increase your carrying capacity to 150kg generally, but bear in mind the Yowie only comes with fixings for 2 roof bars, so you'll need to pick up an additional RTT fixings kit.
If you have the 3rd roof rack, you can look at mounting anything up to 55kg extra, assuming you'll remove it when opening up the tent. If you wanted something like solar panels to be permanently mounted, you're probably looking at something around 10-15kg max to still easily open it up.
In addition to your roof rack rating, you'll also need to consider your GVM and your vehicle's roof load rating to make sure that covers the roof racks, roof top tent, roof top tent racks if you use them, and the weight of the additional cargo you plan to carry.
