The spacious, freestanding Outbreak 1550 Swag from 23ZERO will keep you comfortable every night on your touring expeditions.
The Outbreak 1550 is constructed from a 400gsm tightly woven and proofed canvas which provides a durable shelter to rest your head in. This swag has enough room for two, with enough space left over for your gear. Fully seam-sealed for protection, the Outbreak has a heavy-duty HF welded PVC bucket floor which shields you from the ground up. For ventilation, there is a super-fine mesh window at each end with zip-down canvas walls for wet conditions. To keep you comfy as you sleep, this swag features a 70mm hi-density thick foam mattress with a poly-cotton cover.
The 4-way entry makes it super easy to get in and out of, with plenty of room for your essentials, and this swag also provides scenic 360-degree views. For roomy and reliable shelter every night on your travels, you can depend on the Outbreak 1550 Swag from 23ZERO.
Hi, will a zempire monstamat twin fit?
G'day Simone,
Due to the sleeping space with an octagonal shape, this isn't suitable to be swapped out with a rectangular option.
The Zempire Monstamat Twin would leave a gap on the sides and the corners would put pressure onto the mat and swag.
Is there a dry bag on the market that would fit this swag when rolled up?
G'day Sam,
The largest dry bag we have would be the Darche Nero 240 Bag, but this wouldn't be big enough to fit the Outbreak Swag when rolled up. Currently, we are not aware of any waterproof swag bags big enough to fit the Outbreak 1550.
Given the mattress shape what bedding eg fitted sheet is needed to fit over it comfortably
G'day Greg,
A normal double mattress fitted sheet should work well without too much excess.
Hey Guys, want to put a fitted sheet over the mattress for more protection, I know the shape is unique but what size would roughly fit? Double??
G'day Luke,
Domestic double mattresses are 135cm wide, queen are 152cm wide.
Given it's only a thin mattress, I'd probably opt for a double sheet anyway so you don't have so much excess bulk tucked under.
Hope that helps!
Hi. We bought this and love it so far. We want some poles to extend the fly like shown in one of your pics? Which size poles would you recommend?
G'day Shane,
The 23Zero Swag Awning Pole Set can be found in the You Might Also Like section on the Outbreak product page.
These are made specifically for the 23Zero Swags, however any swag awning pole set will do the trick.
Is this midge proof?
G'day Jess,
No, this swag does not claim to be midge-proof.
They can get into any swag or tent via zips and even sometimes stitching seams, as well as getting in anytime you open up your swag.
It will do a pretty good job of protecting you, but nothing can be 100%.
Do you need ground mesh with a swag that's not in a stretcher, like this one?
G'day Jess,
No, you dont need to use a ground mesh with swags. Some people opt to use one so they have a 'clean' space at the entrance to minimise dirt, etc being bought into the swag, but that's personal preference.
Hi, Is there a camp stretcher big enough for this? The "Kamp-Rite Queen Kwik Cot Stretcher" is long enough but just 10cm not wide enough. If not, maybe I need to consider the "Outbreak Double Swag 1550" instead?
G'day Brad,
There isn't really a stretcher option compatible with the Outbreak 1550, due to it's larger than most size! You could put it on the Kamp Rite Queen Kwik Cot Stretcher, however you will have some overhang on the sides. The other issue with this set up, is the central bar running down the stretcher, this can create a bit of a divet like feeling to the two sides of the swag.
We'd recommend sticking to leaving this particular model on the ground.
Just wondering if you can fit a double sized self inflating mattress in this one?
G'day Kate,
The Outbreak 1550 has an octagonal sleeping space and an octagonal mattress, so generally isnt suitable to be swapped out with a rectangular option. Rectangular mats generally leave a large gap of floor down each side, and have the corners of the mattress folded up and in, putting pressure on the swag corners.
Is this a Aussie company, where are the materials from? Is ut Aussie made?
G'day Has,
23Zero is an Australian owned and operated company. They currently manufacture in China.
Has there been any feedback , On the roof panels being prone to leaking when not using the fly.The use of the zip panels could cause some issues you would think
G'day Jason,
We haven't, no. The reviews are overwhelmingly positive, with someone commenting that water can pool on the roof more than other swags in wet weather.
These have been around for a few years in varying versions, so I'm sure if it were an issue we would have heard about it.
Hi, just wanting to know if the canvas swag bag is genuinely waterproof, seen that the Darche Nebula bag isn't so curious about this one! Cheers!
G'day Sam,
No it's not. In order for a bag to be classified as waterproof it needs to have fully waterproof materials, seam sealing, and special types of zips.
The bag would probably have you covered in a light shower, but its not necessarily going to keep the swag dry on roof racks through rain.
does the fly open either side to create an awning or only one side as per your picture ?
G'day Marc,
No, it doesn't unfortunately. The fly cap only has provisions for one awning overall, so when you setup you'll need to orient the fly to the preferred awning side.
How heavy is the mattress? I want to see how much weight can be reduced if I change to a self-inflating mattress?
G'day George,
The mattress weighs about 7kg - bear in mind that it's 155cm wide and an elongated octagon shape.
Normal double/queen self-inflating camp mats are around 130cm wide and rectangular, so they won't fit perfectly inside the Outbreak 1550 swag. They'll also weigh in on average at around 6kg for a similar thickness mat.
Hope that info helps!
Does the fly included?
G'day George,
Yes, the Outbreak Double Swag 1550 comes with the fly.
Are you supposed to roll up the swag with the mattress still inside of it? And if so, will it fit into the swag bag provided?
G'day Amanda,
Yes, the swag is designed so you can roll the swag up with the mattress inside. The bag has enough space to fit the swag with its supplied mattress inside.
Because the corners of this swag are not rectangular, I wonder if Exped Megamat Duo 10 LW Mat can fit in to replace the original one?
G'day George,
Unfortunately, the Megamat Duo 10 isn't a good fit for the Outbreak 1550 Swag due to the shape. If you're needing to replace the mattress we'd recommend getting a replacement mattress from 23Zero as the shape is quite unique.
Does the swag come with the canvas bag?
G'day Rikki,
Yes, the Outbreak Double Swag comes with a Canvas Carry Bag.
Do you need the fly set up on the swag for it to be waterproof? Or is it just an optional extra to set up? And what purpose does the fly serve?
G'day Mat,
You don't need to have the fly set up, the Swag is seam-sealed and will keep the water out. The fly helps to reduce condensation and to channel water away and reduce water pooling on the top.
is the pvc base one large piece of fabric or is it smaller pieces welded together due to shape?
G'day Kieran,
We don't physically have one to double-check at the moment as they are on pre-order, however, I believe there are a few heat-sealed seams in the PVC base.
is this swag like most others and it requires it to be seasoned prior to 1st use to help with the waterproofing process?
G'day Kieran,
The Outbreak Swag is seam-sealed, so technically you won't need to season it before the first use.
Is there any instructions or a set up video? Cheers
G'day Kathy,
At this stage we don't have a set-up video for the Outbreak Swag, however, we're looking to upload one at some point down the track. They are fairly straight forward to set up, but feel free to give us a buzz if you've got any specific questions about set up and we can guide you through it over the phone.
Does this swag need to be pegged out?
G'day Jess,
Yes the Outbreak 1550 Swag will need to be pegged out to ensure that the ends are taught and the canvas isn't slack over the top of the mattress edges.
When’s this back in stock?
Can you do a video of set up and pack down? I can't find one anywhere!
G'day De,
This is a new re-designed model so as soon as the stock arrives we'll be looking to do some videos of the new stock, so keep an eye on the site in the next few months.
23zero outbreak double
G'day Michael,
The flysheet and required guy ropes do come with the swag, but the awning poles will need to be purchased separately.
Hi there Is the awning & relevant pegs included? Thank & regards
G'day Olivia,
Yes, they are.
Replacement poles
G'day Jon,
Replacement poles are available for the 23 Zero swags. To organise the poles, just send an email through to service@snowys.com.au or visit 23Zero.com.au
At each end; does the swag have internal zip flaps for cold nights? I noticed on the picture you can zip down the end externally.
G'day Michael,
Great question, we don't have an Outbreak Display model available to double-check, however, I believe the canvas end flaps are the only canvas barrier between you and the elements so they're designed to be zipped shut in cooler weather. This is a little different to the Bandit 1400 which has internal canvas and mesh flaps, with a separate outer canvas flap. I can double-check with the team at 23Zero Monday if you'd like too, please just send me a reply email to this and I can be in touch :)
Yes you can access everything from the inside!
