No, they're not off the shelf compatible with other gazebo models as they attach solely via velcro. The Coleman gazebos have a velcro strip running alongside the inner edge of their gazebo canopies which Oztrail dont. You can probably come up with a DIY solution if you're handy, or add some velcro yourself without to much trouble.

Shade awning zip and rain1 answer
Rain water leaked through the awning zip and wet the inside.I had to drop the attached verandah which made entering and exiting the tent annoying. How can this be prevented?

As the name of the product suggests, this awning attachment is designed for shade only and isn't a waterproof option or solution to use in the rain. I'd recommend just using the vestibule door flap for a smaller awning space if you're expecting wet weather, or alternatively, look at something like the Hiker Fly or Camper fly set up as a tarp shelter to give you more reliable protection.

I realize this is marketed as a shade, but we campers often need shelter from water, be it dew through to heavy rain. The Shield seems to slope back down to the main tent fly. If so, will this dump a lot of water onto what is effectively a box gutter and where will it go? Will it pool, run off or drip through the zip and seams? Can the pole heights be adjusted to ensure that the slope is away from the tent, noting that the tent awning poles are a set height? We recently had our 4P Gold Evo up in modest intermittent showers and rain and used an Oz Trail stand alone fly to do something similar. No zip on, but it all worked out reasonably well when placed over the top of the fitted awning. Able cook and sit under it for several hours and stayed up overnight. Some pooling on the sloping side.

This heatshield Evo awning does not come with a waterhead rating, meaning it hasn't been tested for and be claimed as being waterproof. There'd be some other better suited alternatives, such as a tarp system that you already use, or a waterproof gazebo. We'd recommend not using this Evo Shade for rain protection.

Coleman doesn't specify a waterhead rating on the Evo Shade awnings so it's hard to say whether or not they are also waterproof. Based on the information we've been able to get from Coleman it, unfortunately, isn't clear whether these awnings will also keep water out of the space.

The Evo Shade awnings only attach to the Evo series tents via the zipper above the front vestibule. Unfortunately, there is no zipper on the 4P Lighted Northstar Darkroom so they're not compatible.

Hi, how does this connect to the tent? I can see it is pegged at the bottom but can't work out the connection at the top. Is it a zipper or velcro? Does the side that attaches to Coleman gazebos use velcro (and is it the hook type or loop)?

They attach to the tent using the zipper above the front awning. This zipper was added to the newer Evo models when they were released late last year. The connection at the gazebo side is a velcro loop that doubles back on itself, so it can be secured around most gazebo frames.

The Evo Shade Awnings have specifically been designed to fit the Evo model tents. Unfortunately, the 4P Lighted Darkroom has no zipper connection to attach the Evo Shade Awning, so they're not compatible.

**Update 2022 - this answer is for the 6P Heat Shield Awning. The 4P is best used with 2.4m Gazebos - as they attach with velcro straps, most brands/styles will be suitable, but the Instant Up Lighted 2.4m Gazebo is a great option.

No, the Coleman Evo Shades are not compatible with previous model tents, as there is no attachment hardware on the old models for the shade to connect too.
